Angry Need a new cat, only 5 days old!!

I picked up my brand new cobalt last thursday, drove home when my yellow engine light came on. Brought it back to the dealer on friday morning, they said it was a faulty code, reset it, again it came on during the ride home. Brought it there today and I guess I need a new catalytic converter, part should be in in about 5 days or so.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Kinda disappointing when u are all excited about your new car and this happens. I mean I know its not major or anything, but still.

Depends on if it's a safety hazard or not. Most only do recalls if it can pose a problem with safety. Doesn't really matter, I think those are warranted for 8 years or something like that...

Yeah my oil has been at zero percent for a long time and causes my check engine light to turn on for about 24 hours once in a while.

Angry

Well tonight as i was driving, all of a sudden it sounded like i drove over a hanger and was dragging it. i heard this awful clanging noise. I guess either my baffel in the muffler is broke or the beads from my cat are in my muffler. thats what my moms bf said cuz hes a mechanic and figured that was what it was from what i told him.
nice eh. they better get that new cat for me real soon.
so now it sounds all nasty and rattely when i drive

Well I just got home from the dealer and they said the noise was the inside of the cat, the honeycomb, basically blew up into little pieces and they are in my muffler.
They have to replace the exhaust now so my car is gonna be there for a few days cuz they are still waiting for the cat to come it. Meanwhile I have a rental car.
Hopefully this is the end of it all and no more problems.

I was surprised that they let you drive in the first place knowing you had a bad cat.

They didnt say how long they were going to have it for. well the dealership told me it takes 5 days for the new cat to come in cuz its such a new part so it takes a bit. they ordered it on monday, so hopefully it comes in tomorrow, or monday the latest.
did your cat blow up into your muffler like mine? or was it just the yellow engine light sayin you need a new cat?

The wifes 2.4 HHR had the same issue. First they tried the sensor, then the computer, then the cat. It has been fine ever since. 6 months now

I didn't get a light, I noticed that I was building more boost then I should have, and a whistleing noise and the engine started boosting.
and the night before my appointment my car went in to limp mode.

my Cat was clogging, even more dangerous, cause it could have caused severe engine damage. be happy yours fell apart inside.
