new header, now coolant leaks

I have a 2008 2.2l cobalt and i have replaced the header with the ca stainless header. After replacing the header the coolant started to dump out from under the header. There is what the dealer called a coolant crossover pipe underneath the header. the header is pushing down on the pipe and creating pressure which in turn is breaking the seals and making it leak coolant. From what the guys on the CA site said this pipe is rotatable and i can loosen it and move it away from the header and tighten it back up. the pipe is going into the water pump from what it looks like and from what the online repair manual i have says.

I have done many installs on 2.2's, and have never had that problem. Who installed it? If it's hitting a pipe to the point where it leaks, it should have been easily noticed. Did you do it yourself or did you take it to a shop?

it's normal for NEW exhaust components to smoke and smell for a while. new gaskets will also smoke and smell. If they're not new, then I would look into it more. easy way to tell if there's a leak is to have someone totally cover the tailpipe with the car running, and you under the hood. if there's a leak it won't build up pressure, and it will be very easy to see/hear.

So what fixed the solution? My Hahn header is making my
**** leak from the same spot. Also I got the smoke and cam issue as well.

pull the tab down and rotate the pipe away from the header.

ive never had this problem either...until last night when i was installing the garrett turbo manifold on WHITE G5's car....he started tightening the manifold while i was installing the downpipe...when all of a sudden i got a shower of dexcool....

the question is....how are we suppose to rotate the pipe when it has a a tab that locks it in place?

Is the tab on the left side of the pipe? I rotated mine a little bit and a piece of metal fell off and I'm thinking is was the tab. I rotate it one day and I doesn't leak, a day or two later I turn on my car and I show low coolant so I back up and it's all over the driveway. Any thoughts on what I should do?

I installed my ca header with no experience just following the how to and didn't have this problem. I guess it depends on how the coolant pipe is positioned in every car. Maybe not all are rotated fully enough. Its possible.

I just ran in to this problem. leave it to my car to have every one of those "this only happens on some cobalts" problems.

Haha, dont worry man mine is the same way. Nothing ever works out properly for me but it didnt help that the hahn header i bought was a shitty design, not to mention used and warped so it still leaks. I fixed the problem by heating up the part that rubs on the crossover and Lightly denting it in for perfect clearance. Rotating that crossover only made it leak more for me.
