new rotors=new brake pads??

Hey guys, Ive decided to finally trash my current rotors which are cross drilled and slotted, and buy some RayBestos Professional grade rotors for my front and rear. My current rotors cause vibrations in the car, steering wheel and brake pedal when stopped from 50+ speeds.

My questions is..I just recently put on Ferodo HP1000 maybe a month or 2 ago and they have ALOT of life left in them. Do i need to buy new ones because i am replacing the rotors, or will putting these pads on the new rotors be okay? THanks!

As long as your outgoing rotors are still relatively smooth, even if they are warped a bit you should be okay. Generally I would change the rotors and pads together every time, but I think most people probably only change them every second or third set of pads.

Also the r1 concepts rotors are really nice and their oe replacment ones are not much more expensive than the raybestos variety

Yeah... i would typically replace pads too... due to the pads wearing on the uneven rotor may cause issues when you slap them on the new rotors.... but if you want to keep them on.... then just scuff them with a scuff pad really good to get all of the glazing off of them.... before you put them on with the new rotors..... then do a proper burnishing.... a handful of good hard stops to burnish them with the new rotors....

The r1 concepts are actually what i have on the car not (cross drilled and slotted) and i just recently learned that cross drilled and slotted are no better, and is some cases actually worse than regular smooth rotors, i saw a few people who had the raybestos and liked them so im going to get those thanks!

yeah... the only purpose for cross drilled/slotted rotors is heat dissipation.... and for normal driving it does nothing. When you driill holes in a rotor... you lose surface area which = less stopping power.

Regular rotors FTW.
