NO air box? WTF...
So I bought my 06 SS/SC last year (May 2008) used with 18k miles on it.
After about a week after buying it my CEL came on. My bf said no biggie probably need a new O2 censor. So it's gone on and off for the last year and my car has never even idled weird.
So finally I decide to get the code for the error. They say it's running lean. (P0171)
I say "Ok, probably need a new O2 censor." I decided I need to go ahead and change out my air filter and had autozone order a K&N air filter.
Well, when we got down to change it, I have not freaking air box! Someone has basically removed the air box and "created" a CAI.
However, there's no fancy metal pipes.... Soo is this bad or does it matter?
Basically I have the stock (plastic) tubing with (now K&N) air filter just at the bottom of the tube. My CEL has finally gone off.. hopefully for good but not from what I read on here with everyone's intakes

I like to feed sand through my air intake while my buddy floors the car, it helps to port and polish the internals of the blower and motor. Works great!
And as long as the MAF is there, check for leaks after the filter. My tube comes undone every few k and throws a code...
