No Juice

So I go out to my gargae this morning to head to work. Go to hit the unlock button on the remote and nothing happens. Odd. Unlock my car manually, nothing comes on, no dash, lights. Try to start it, not even a click. I figure the battery is dead (weird being I just got the car in June). Problem is its parked in a single car garage and as far as I'm aware of there is no way to get the car out of park unless there is juice to the battery. My question is: Is it ok to jump the car using the battery in the trunk or do I have to do it from the remote post under the hood? Secondly, is there any way to get the car out of park without juice?

You should be able to get it into neutral.

It should be find using the battery instead of the terminals under the hood.

Thanks for the help. I got it jumped. I read in the service manual that without a charge in the battery there is no way to shift it out of park. Guess they weren't thinkin about the guys with a single car garage, lol.

That's really strange. You'd think they would allow you do shift to neutral for safety reasons.

Same thing happens with my wife's Honda Odyssey.

I had the same problem yesterday. Drove my Cobalt to work. Came out and keyless entry does nothing. Use key to open door and no lights come on inside car. Try to start it and it's dead. Tried to jump start it twice (once with wife's car and once with tow truck). No luck. You can get it into neutral without juice. We did. You have to remove the cup holder and there is a release under there. Tow the car to nearest dealer. The tech goes out to the car to get VIN and such and the car starts right up for him. I'm thinking you've got to be kidding me. So far, dealer says battery was in good shape but low. They recharged it and are running diagnostics to figure out whatelse is going on. I post my findings. There must be something going on with this car to play dead and then act like nothing wrong at dealer.

Well it did it again. This time to my wife. By the time I got there, to get her and get all of my stuff out of it anticipating it to be towed again, it started for me. Took it to the dealer who says they replaced the starter. WTF? What does a bad starter have to do with no keyless entry, dome lights, dash lights etc. from coming on. I haven't picked the car up yet. We'll see their explanation in the morning.
