Noticed this today

Noticed the intermediate shaft carrier seal(?) had what looks like evacuated grease or whatever, but then right on the edge looks clean like metal on metal. Any idea? What needs to be replaced based on the pic?

I've never seen one of those bearings be serviced, I'd imagine you'd have to replace the intermediate shaft. I also wouldn't worry about it unless it got much worse, that little seeping is not enough to concern me.

Are you having any bearing noise? If you wanted to be thorough, pull the axle and IM shaft and spin that over by hand, see if it feels smooth.

Thats not really leaking its just a greased part. Not a big deal if you want id say take it apart ral quick and wipe it clean and put new grease.

What's the other side look like? Did something drip down on it, it would be thrown out like that when that shaft is spinning.

"Technically" that bearing is serviced with the shaft as a assembly. But if it can be broken down I don't see why regreasing it would be an issue. I don't see enough grease to worry much about it though and the bad thing is if it starts leaking, regreasing it would only be temporary since you cant get new seals. Probably wouldn't do anything unless it started making noise, or if you pulled it off and it felt gritty.
