Oil covered spark plug

Hey guys, (Long Read) sorry

A few weeks ago I lost all or most of the threads in Cylinder 3?(second one if standing on passenger side) that holds the spark plug

threw P0300 and flashing cel

well i was able to put an old spark plug in temporarily, caught some threads...luckily

ordered new plugs NGK Bkr7e 4644

once I received them I went to install them (gapped .35), 3 go in like normal except that one, doesnt catch

i have my buddy install the Helicoil insert Sav a Thread. he used RTV silicone, drove around the block and then let it sit for 24hrs

so May 15th fixed it 16th drove till this morning 24th when i started it and wrx mod plus P0300

came home from work (drove the monte carlo) and pulled coil pack cover and the boots

spark plug covered in oil and the boot has oil all in it too

the plug was still threaded in but the insert came out when i pulled the plug

sooooo my question is, is there a seal that could be leaking oil or does it have to do with the spark plug insert silicone not holding and oil bypassing it?

thanks guy

also would seafoaming the car be helpful too

Good luck, dude. When I blew up my 4th cylinder plug, I did a helicoil as hell and it's been solid since.

The car running on 3 cylinders sounds pretty cool tho..

If the plug has oil on it, I think it's coming from someplace else and should not have anything to do with your plug fitting. I mean, the combustion chamber is made for burning gas, not oil, and the other end of the plug has your coil on it. Good luck getting to the bottom though.

is the oil on the bottom of the plug where it sits in the cumbustion chamber..... or on the upper part of the plug where it plugs into the coil?

If oil is just getting on the top of the plug and in the tube itself... could just be the tube seal on the VC thats leaking.... if your leaking oil in the cumbustion chamber though.... thats a whole different deal... possibly rings or valve seals.

Unless you have a severe blowby issue(would hydrolock before oil blew past the plug threads) The valve cover gasket is leaking...like 20$ and takes 10 minutes to fix.

The helicoil coming out...ya, Ive done it to a 5.4 3valve but no other vehicles...Personally, I would throw a head on before I would throw a helicoil on my personal vehicle.

i agree... change the VC gasket/spark plug tube seals..... and see if that fixes the oil leaking in the tube. If not..... you know you got other issues to explore.

just gathering some parts, waiting on a gasket to come in

havent pulled the valve cover yet haha

once all the stuff comes in my buddy is going to come out and do a compression test and we are going to fix the the insert, make sure to do it right and install the valve cover gasket and the seals that come with it

if that inst the fix we will look deeper
