Mine makes the 'sound' of a grind going into 2nd when slamming it extremely hard, but it doesn't actually grind.

this guy wants a cookie. This transmission is plagued with grinding like no other with very experienced drivers.

No grinding here, and I shift pretty swiftly/hard to prevent glazing the clutch like in the how-to. hehe

Its the tranny... dunno if it is the fluid or what but evidently f40s are worse

epic bump

My 2nd gear was grinding even during the test drive, however i bought mine with 12,000 miles on it so it could have been destroyed prior. I'll find out when my new tranny is in.

I signed in on this one. I doubt GM will listen much but its still good to get this stuff out there.

My problem is mostly third, no matter what I do, it has a slight grind into third, and on occassion, will grind HORRIBLY into second... If it grinds into second, every other gear grinds. I'm serriously just considering getting a different tranny and putting it on the car. I'm more than sure if I let the syncros wear themselves to nothing and ask for a warrenty repair they will blame it on my driving habbits...

No grinding here going on two years. Around what point in the cars lifespan are you guys noticing this?

First grind when i test drove my cobalt at 10,000ish miles. Could have already been there by the previous owner but thats REALLY low miles to destroy something.

I dont buy new vehicles since negative equity is dumb.

I get the grind as well in 2nd & 4th gears, it also makes a "clunk" noise when I shift into those gears rather than the nice firm pocket feeling in the others. Does anyone else have that problem?

The 2.4 started grinding around 30k miles. The SS/SC has a bit over 20k and hasn't done it a bit. Different transmissions though, of course.

That will have no effect on the grinding if your tranny is defective and has this problem. Obviously, you didn't get one of the deffective ones. How does glazing your clutch have even the slightest resemblance to the topic here?
