P0013 loss of power

Well...my car is acting up...Last thursday I got p0013 code. I thought it was my exhaust solenoid so I swapped that. Still getting the code. I went to the track last night. My car was going crazy. It was mostly in 2nd (when I was able to actually go WOT) I would get these huge deadspots where it felt like the car lost a huge amount of power. Anyone have any ideas?*

According to the ultragauge yeah only p0013. I'll get hpt on and scan for codes tomorrow to verify.

Also. I am running e85 safe injector cleaner and will be swapping my fuel filter for a new one when I get a chance. Could be cause for dead spots but don't see how it'd trigger the code.

Some codes you actually have to reset with a scan tool. The battery trick doesn't work with all codes. However, I'm not sure if P0013 is one of them or not.

Well I clear the code with the ultragauge but it comes back. I'll reset it with hpt tomorrow.

your signature says a lot particularly at the end. 2.4 with vvt supercharged in the aftermarket, showing a camshaft acutator code. This can mean debris in the acutators. Debris can come from lots of different places, piston ring land debris is one such thing. I hope you can figure your way out of this issue. I suggest the first thing you do is determine engine health with a leak down test.
good luck.

In the actuators not the solenoids correct? Those were going to be my next test along with checking the timing chain. I'm not worried about engine health completely right now. Just want to get this issue resolved. Engine will be getting a "makeover" soon enough just have to keep gathering parts.

Just to add to it. My solenoids were both very clean when I swapped them. Intake about 15-25k miles ago and exhaust barely like 200 miles ago. Car has 79k on it and didn't see any debris on either of them when swapped.

correct^^^ correct. solenoids. why swap them? you may not worry about engine health but if you have a mechanical reason the car is running poorly, throwing parts at it and looking for internet advice is both costly and a waste of time.

When I swapped my intake solenoid I was having the normal symptoms ( hard shifting, bad mpg, etc) the intake actually was bad and made the traction control light randomly start coming on. Wasnt total fix though as my map sensor was bad also.

So when I got p0013 I assumed it was the exhaust side since they usually say you need to replace by 50k and I'm just shy of 80. Wasn't the fix so I'm now looking around for answers/solutions.

And I didn't mean I'm not concerned with engine health as in blow up already. I meant I just need it to run alright until winter when I tear it apart and replace internals

P0013 Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Control Circuit ECM

if you swapped the solenoid then check the wiring from the solenoid to the pcm

Check wiring and come back...look inside of plug for bent or damaged.

Ok thanks for your help.

If it was the tune I'm sure it wouldve popped out earlier. My tune is far from being done only got a few revisions on it and I've changed many things since that last revision. Which was last March. Been having mechanical issues since then and making changes that's why I haven't logged it. Along with a pesky leak that I barely fixed a while back.

Nick I checked the plug and weren't any bent fins. Replaced my fuel filter so will see how it reacts to that. Will be taking a multimeter or w/e to them in the next few days

I have the vc off. Don't see any debris anywhere. Just the usual oil. Had already cleaned the actuator before (exh actuator was milky because I had sorta flooded the engine)

I had picked up a p0365 also.

My codes are gone now. Turns out it was wiring afterall. I just hadn't connected actuator sensor correctly after everything was done.

Did a quick 40 roll and no deadspot.
