P0068 and P0420

My crank shaft sensor recently went out so I replaced it and now a new problem. The car will start Idles a bit rougher than before and if I accelerate to fast or push the gas pedal past a certain point you hear a schreeching noise and get engine power reduced signal. The codes that came up were P0068 and P0420. Has anyone had this problem or know how to help?

P0068: Throttle Body Airflow Performance (may be a dirty or malfunctioning MAF)
P0420: Cat Converter Efficency (chances are your cat is clogged, toast, or you have air/fuel issues)

Can't get much more specific than that but both of those would definitely explain your rough idle. Screeching on the other hand unless your TB is getting stuck you've got me on that one. I'd start at the MAF/TB and work your way back...if you solve the 0068 it may solve the 0420 if your Cat is still functioning correctly but is picking up a rich condition.

Just a heads up, these are under the assumption it's an SC...for a 2.2 or LNF the codes may not directly line up if I'm not mistaken.

Yes it is an sc. Any way the timing could have got knocked from the crankshaft sensor being bad and the car backfiring? I had someone look at it the other day granted it wasnt a GM mechanic but he knows his way around cars and he thinks the timing might be off so he is trying to get a tech 2 system to hook it up too this weekend. Is there any chance that could have caused the timing to be off? Im hoping its just a bad maf sensor. I didnt get a chance to check that yet.

When you replaced the sensor a case relearn must be done to resync the sensor with the cam Im pretty sure ,that is why the cam timing is now off.

Well I ordered a MAF sensor and I'm going to put that on tomorrow when it comes in. How do you perform a case relearn or do I have to take it to a dealer to have that done?

Dang....I just had my Crank Position Sensor replaced also (at the dealer)...just yesterday, now I'm throwing a p0420 code.

This is too much of a coincidence IMO.

I'm not having any performance issues like the TS, but I'm getting that damn code, and it pisses me off.

Any ideas? I wasn't getting this code before I took the car in.
