parking brake problems
car is an 05 ss/sc with almost 70k km on it
since i have owned this car the parking brake has always sucked, wouldnt hold the car on the even slight inclines. tried to get gm to do something when it was under warrenty, however being the car had very little warrenty left they kept saying it was normal and never once put my complaint on a work order, so i have no proof of the complaint.
getting to the point, today i pulled up on the parking brake, and instead of it comming half way up, it pulled all the way to the top, to the point my armrest was sitting at a 45 degree angle. the parking brake was sort of holding, no worse than it was before. i now also have slack in the handle till it gets half way up.
any thoughts or suggestions??? im thinking i broke a cable. ill look at it tomorow, just wondering if anyone has thoughts to speed up my diagnostic.

Its a very common problem with all of ours, many have had cars rolling away from it not holding. Mine just did what yours did yesterday, no grab at all until the very top, with just under 35k on the clock. Going to Chevy tomorrow to see what they can do with it.
guys, if you're having this problem, have the dealer check it out. my cables needed to be replaced. had them do it, but still wasn't holding right. so I had the car up in the air, and what do you know, drivers side rear holding great, passenger side rear not holding at all. my caliper siezed up, and I only have 35k on the car. I'm sure it was only mine but still, have them check it.
good way to know if they're bullshitting you when they say it's fine...if the ebrake is set, jack the rear up and spin the wheels. neither should spin. if they do, there's a problem.
