Performance problems

I have a 07 supercharged cobalt. First off I have an Aem cold air intake, and a exhaust muffler.
Now to my problem. Every gear I'm in when I'm cruising down the road and punch the gas the rpms shoot up but my car doesn't get up and go. For example if I am in 3rd gear and punch the gas rpms will shoot up to 6000 rpms and then back down to 3000 or 4000 rpms before the car will take off. I've heard it could be a boost leak but I'm not real sure. Any help would be great.
Thanks!

a slipping belt would also produce the same symptoms as a slipping clutch. best way to tell if the clutch is gone is to drop it to fifth from first. If nothing happens, it's the clutch. If the car stalls violently....it's not the clutch, and most likely a belt issue.

Have you done anything to the supercharger or the engine that has required you to remove the belt? How many miles is on the vehicle?

This is probably the worst advice I have ever heard. If you want to chance over revving your engine go ahead and do this.

Belt slipping does not create the same issue... WOW...

It's clutch...If rpms raise without car moving it's always clutch, NEVER belt. Now if if rpms are steady, but boost gauge bounces, that's belt.

really....that would be news to my buddy that actually had the same symptoms, thought it was his clutch, and it turned out to be his belt slipping. I guess you're right, I really shouldn't recommend dumping the clutch like that. There's better ways, but that is one way. And I believe he did mention he was sporadically going into high boost as well.

edit: just read it again, doesn't mention anything about boost. but i'm sure that would also be some information to note.

He can't explain cause he is wrong. Belt can't cause these symptoms, only a clutch or spinning tires can. Since op says it does it in all gears and I doubt he has enough power to spin the tires in 5th it has to be a clutch.

Definitely don't drop from 5th to 1st... That's a good way to stick your rockers.
