Po103 & Po172 Intake??? Help!
Po103 & Po172 Intake??? Help!
AFter 3,000 miles with my CAI on i finally got my check engine light on. It has not 1 but 2 codes.
PO103
PO172
the first one is a mass flow high input
and second is System running rich
Are these caused because of my CAI? I have a 90 Jspec CAI on and it was fine until now. Does the drop in temperature cause this because its recently droped to 24 degrees out.
Is there anything i can do besides putting my stock intake back on... please help!
bump for some help!!!!
I think the intake is on tight and nothing is loose.

Nah, It was not an ebay special.
It was 90 bucks off of cobalt-addiction.com it's the Jspec CAI
Could anything besides the MAF or anything that has to do with the Intake cause those codes? Anyone ever have these codes before?

You paid $94 + shipping for that from CA?

You could have gotten the same thing off e-bay for $65 +ship. It's an e-bay special dude... hate to tell you.
Cheap products throw codes... what did you expect?
Next time stick with a respected brand like K&N, AEM, Injen, or Fujita... you'll spend more up front, but you won't have as many problems.
And seriously... didn't the term "J(apan)spec" seem kinda funny to you? These cars are american made... there are no JDM parts.
Ehhh.....
well you see... an intake is a tube with a MAF with a cone on it... hmmm what are injen, k&n and AEM, and everything else??? the same thing.... others i saw have the problem after doing some research... The research i couldn't do because i was late for work because of this. I was rushing and didn't have the time i needed to fix it. other intakes have the same problem so instead of making fun of me i should be making fun of you because you spent the extra money for something that does the same thing as mine..
Sounds like you have an air leak between the supercharger and intake manifold.
Just a guess but if you had the supercharger off at one time for a pulley swap, check the four mounting bolts on the blower itself.
What sounds like is happening is the supercharger is simply pushing air into the atmosphere causing:
1. P0172 Your fuel trims to go rich since the air has been metered by the MAF but not ingested by the engine the PCM wants to fuel for that air. Since the air isn't there, the o2 corrects it by a percentage (called a trim). Once that trim exceeds 20% you get the p0172.
2. P0103 Since the blower is not working against as much pressure it can move more air through the intake. So much air that you are exceeding the capabilites of the stock MAF sensor.
