Power Steering

Hey everybody this is my first post on the site.

I have a problem with my power steering. now from searching I know this is most likely the motor, and am about to follow the tutorial on the site. But today I noticed something while driving the car. the cruise control and radio buttons do not function while the power steering is out. I am now thinking it could just be wiring, does anyone have any suggestions on what wire could be lose, or do you think it is still the motor?

thanks.

There is no power steering pump on our cars. They use an electric assist, the motor is located on the steering column itself.

That is an odd combination to go out at the same time... I think they are all controlled by the BCM. PM Maven and he will give you a good answer(or basis to go on)

That's funky, but tell me what you find out. I have a friend whose power steering will randomly crap out while he's driving. Turns it off/on again, gets it back for a few minutes.

I think that's what it was. I have pulled that fuse before and looked at it and found it to be not blown. I did it again last night, it wasn't blown, so i put it back. hasnt gone out since. bad connection in fuse box with the fuse maybe?

I have seen hairline cracks before. Only knew of them because they had no resistance on a multimeter.

lol i'm waiting for my oil change place to tell me that my power steering pump is bad. or charge me for topping off my power steering fluid. those guys are ******* retatrded, no offence.

as for the power steering problem, i had a problem with my ICM a while back that would cause the car to stall and one time we got it running and it caused the power steering to be off. check all electrical connections if you can. the power steering power source is the two plugs in the top left of the fuse box if i'm not mistaken. check them.

no offense taken, there are defiantly some ******* retarded oil change places, no question. But if they do ever tell you they had to top it off, punch them straight in the face. I work at my dads place, i'm 17 so yea, what can i say, its a good job, hes been in business for 15 years so where doing something right.

STAY AWAY FROM VALVOLINE!!!! they have a tendency to put oil filters on so loose i can take them off with 2 fingers.

lol, im sure my dad felt the same way when he opened his buisness, im not trying to say everyone should go to an oil change business or anything. i never would, i would always want to know its done right. but theres people who have no idea how to change their own oil, and for them, they need to know that there are shops out there you can trust.

Just had a similar situation occur tonight, just recently had my cruise control act up and was able to reset it by leaving the battery unplugged for 5 minutes - worked fine for about a week until tonight. All of the sudden power steering flashed long enough for me to read it and went off the screen and now cruise control doesn't work again, only seems to happen after serious rain so it does seem like it's a problem with that fuse.
