Question about clutch install covered by warranty or not?
Let me start out by saying I have already tried to contact Chevrolet customer service but no one understood a simple question and I got passed to 3 people before I just gave up...
I still have the power train warranty on my 07 chevrolet cobalt ss/sc. It has just a hair over 34k on it right now. Supposedly a dealer I was taking my car to replaced the clutch but no other part numbers were noted for the clutch replacement, I later caught the same dealer illegally repairing my rear trans mount which turned into a legal battle, I have high doubts this was replaced.
What I want to know is if I take them a flywheel and the LSJ clutch upgrade kit that is a GM part will the teardown/install be covered under my warranty? If this isn't a simple yes or no please explain what would qualify it for that reason or not.

No, clutch is not normally covered under warranty.
Can you prove that the clutch was replaced previously? Some replacement parts come with a 1 year warranty, but, again, it's doubtful that they're going to honor on a clutch because it's a wear item.

Ya the proof is on my VIN it was all done under warranty work and even listed on the Repair Order.
I have had problems with this car from 2 months after I purchased it, the dealer trashed it more and honestly I don't know what they really did inside there until I open it up.

It depends on your luck, but the dealer isn't obligated to cover a clutch under warranty. I just re-read that you were doing the LSJ upgrade. They probably wouldn't cover that under the parts warranty because you're not replacing the warrantied part with the same part.
I mean, you can always try another dealer to see if you can get one to cover it, but as a rule most are going to tell you no. If it were me, I wouldn't want the dealer who screwed it up doing any more work on the vehicle anyway.

Clutches aren't covered under your warranty because its a wear item.
Its up to the dealer to decide if they want to warranty their install. Once again generally no it wont be because if it doesn't fail right away they put it in right.
