ram air intake

ok so i got the k&n air intake kit for my 07 cobalt and i installed it correctly and now it smokes black for like 30-45 seconds on a cold start and i have no clue why its doing this. I took it to my dealership and they couldnt find anything wrong and i had multiple ppl look at the problem and the only thing anyone could come up with is that my car has california emissions. I took off the intake to see if it would still smoke and now it doesnt so it has something to do with the intake. has anyone come across this problem before or does anyone know what i can do to fix the smoking problem.

After I installed my ss/sc exhaust manifold, catback, and intake my car did that too. It was smoking really bad when just tapping the gas lightly. I forgot to unhook my battery after installing everything, then it was fine afterwards.

i dont understand how the battery affects all of those non-electrical hard parts, but if it worked for you, you cant complain

I thought it reset your engine parameters. In the directions on the GMPP Intake and catback I think it even says to unplug battery. I didnt do it for about 4 months after my catback and intake. After my plugs/rksport coils and downpipe it made it smoke.
