ironically, i just logged up and onto this bitch to ask the same question.

the car runs fine, drives as well as ever. it almost sounds like the exhaust is hitting the car someplace. i plan to put it on stands tomorrow and take a look, but if anyone had a the same issue before, and has an idea what to look at it, lemmie know.

i'm guessing it's a heat shield, or a broken exhaust hanger, but's loud, really loud.

yeah, i dunno about the OP, but mine isn't the sort of thing that you'd just ignore. it's bad, and it just started today. i don't recall hitting anything, and like i said, it's not like the car rides bad.

Check the heatshield under the passenger side of the car closer to the rear tire......it has a screw holding it into a plastic retainer.....mine was loose in the plastic retainer so i put a bigger screw into it and presto....no more rattle!!!.....i found the rattle when i closed the trunk one day and heard it......drove me nuts trying to find where it came from....Later

Not an LSJ.....2.4L.....shouldnt make a difference though, im pretty sure its the same undercarriage but i could be mistaken. No cam so no pics....stick yer head under the car right in front of the rear passenger tire and you will see the heat shield, famous last words "can't miss it".....lol

my heat shield used to rattle like a mother ******.... two seperate pieces meet together and if there not both held in well it will rattle, also the sides near the back rear right wheel rattled... either more rivits to hold it in, or bend it until it stops making noise... which i did.... lsj...
