RIP Cobalt...
well i was driving with a friend who hadnt ridden in my car yet and did a quick run up to 110. shifting from 3rd to 4th the car stalled hard and i couldnt get it to start again. so i had it towed to the dealership.
got the call today. blew a hole in piston #4. so far the minimum price to fix from them is a bit over 2 grand considering no damage to the sleeve or other parts.
looks like its going to be sitting for a longggg time until i can save up enough for a rebuild. it was fun while it lasted...

yea it really sucks. idk i thot the motor could take it because it wasnt an extreme amount of power and the tune from term was really good. dealer said it was from "over-revving". kinda surprising since my redline is only at 7k and i have only taken it up to there maybe a few times...

It is not that trust me. It was not that cold when I tuned him. His timing is very conservative considering he has meth injection and a GT2871 turbo at 24 psi. All things considered his tune was far from super agresssive but the car pulled very well with no KR and 0.0 LTFT and STFTs with 1-2% everywhere. When he brought me the car it was knocking on 21-22 psi and it had +12% STFTs at WOT. When I was done the STFTs at WOT were -1 to 0.

Sorry I have to call BS. fuel trims on a properly dialed in MAF will not be off that much from summer to winter. My car is normally within 2-3% from 20* to 100*. These cars do not need retunes every time the weather changes that is why we have 2 maps, a MAF and a closed loop PE that corrects. These are not carburated cars.

My tune and engine have survived in temps from -42F to +108F and at elevations from 0 - 8000ft
The computer has maps to compensate for all of these conditions assuming that they actually tuned the car properly and fully.

i have never nls'd once while owning the car. im pretty sure it was a burned hole in the piston, they didnt clarify. i will find out more later when the engine is actually taken apart. if the piston and rings are the only thing needing to be replaced, then she should be up and running soon. ill keep you guys updated
