Self inflicted door damage..
Self inflicted door damage..
Well I wanna start out by clearing hte air and admitting to being a *******.
I was cleaning my car with the radio on and the door sensor was beeping. So I put a pen inbetween the sensor and the actual door to 'fool' it so it wouldn't beep. I forgot about it an hour later and attempted to shut the door =(
I didn't shut it all the way because I heard a weird sound (the pen pushing in on the sensor). After I took out the pen I noticed the sensor was pushed back a bit and would not spring all the out anymore. It was at the point to where it wouldn't be pushed when the door shut so I would get the adjar message. Then my stupidass tried pulling on it and out it came lol... The sensors about an inch long and a nice spring came with it...
Short: I pulled out my door sensor and now it won't go back in. I can't imagine this would pass NYS inspection. Can I fix this or do I need to go get it fixed?
EDIT: The sensor will physically fit back into the hole but it won't stay in a fixed position.

It shouldnt be that hard to fix.If you pulled the pin out of the body you will need a new one.
I think they are inserted from the inside ,probably through the side some how.
I will look for a drawing of it at work tommorow if I have time and pm it to you.

I can't see how that would cause you to fail your state inspection because not every car comes equipped with that sensor. However, that sensor is usually available for under $100 and can be installed very easily. We replace those all the time at my shop when they git hit on the doors. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
