Stage 2 Problem!

Stage 2 Problem!
So, I take my car in this morning at 7.30am to get Stage2 installed. I'm excited... 8 F@%KING hours later... my car is done. It was hard to get excited because I was so pissed it took that damn long! I had to use my lunch break at work to pick it up. ANYWAYS, so I hit the roads and head for my hot spot. A nice country road, freshly repaved with some nice sticky black ****... no bumps in the road, no connecting roads... just a 5 mile long Jet Express to happiness. As soon as I pull onto the road a Mash it. MMM... New found power! Clutch... shift to 2nd... Mash it again... Rpm's FLY!...... till I get to 6300-6500... and it stumbles, stumbles like a blind man... like it sort of remembers there being a Rev limiter there before... but it's not sure. That upset me some more... I didn't let the RPM's get that high in any of the other gears, because I didn't want it to break if that were to be the case. It's raining now, so I can't test it. But I'm running BKR7E's and Premium gas (From Marathon... sometimes BP- the name brand gas station). If anyone else has run into this, or has any ideas, please let me know. Any help is appreciated.

sounds like they didnt reflash it correctly. unfortunately 99% of dealers know absolutely nothing about these cars and their engines. sorry to say it, but you need to take it back to get it programmed right.

The same day i had my S2 installed i was experiencing some "floating" rpm issues when i shifted. It got better as time went on. I would give it a few hundered miles for the car to get used to the new flash. I dont care what anyone says about the car being ready to be driven hard right after S2 install....it gets better with time. Almost like a re-break in period.

AGREED... LET THE CAR "BREAK" IN WITH THE STAGE II BEFORE YOU BEAT IT TO DEATH. I FOUND OUT THE HARDWAY OF COURSE ONLY CAUSE IT DID IT ONCE AND THEN I LET IT SLOW FOR A BIT LIKE A FEW DAYS CAUSE I DON'T DRIVE THAT MUCH BUT ITS GONE.

My Stage 2 install took all day as well... good thing I had a ride... or I'd have never made it to work this morning. Thankfully everything turned out okay... 7000 RPM in 1st and 2nd have been tested to success. Shifting's a lot smoother now too.

Heres some helpful info I have access too.
Subject: Inaccurate Tachometer At High RPM with GM Performance Parts Stage 1 Or 2 Kit - keywords accuracy cut cutoff early engine fuel high I II kit limit limiter no off rev RPM stage superch17801947 17803229 #PIP4023 - (01/15/2007)
Models: 2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS
2004-2007 Saturn Ion Redline
with 2.0L Engine (VIN P - RPO LSJ)
and a GM Performance Parts Stage 1/2/3 Kit
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The tachometer used in the Ion Redline is Class 2 based and the one used in the Cobalt SS is LAN based. As a result, the tachometer display rate is slower than the engine acceleration rate during hard acceleration. This may cause an approximate tachometer delay of 500-600 RPM in first gear and 250-300 RPM in second gear. As a result, some customers may advise that their engine reaches fuel cut off before the tachometer displays 7,000 RPM even though the actual engine RPM is actually at 7,000 RPM. Once the vehicle is shifted to third gear, the engine acceleration and tachometer display rates are similar so the tachometer should display actual engine RPM on hard acceleration.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If this concern is encountered, it should be considered a normal operating characteristic of the tachometer when the vehicle is equipped with a GM Performance Parts Stage 1/2/3 Kit. As a result, do not attempt any repairs to try altering this characteristic.
THough that might be useful, as it is straight fomr GM service.
