sunroof problems

Okay so i know there are probably a million threads about sunroof problems but I just want to know how many people have them....My problem is the sunroof does not seem to shut tightly and rattles over bumps. Also when shutting a door it pops up a little. Anyone have a problem similar to this or any other problems with the sunroof?

I know if you have some subs in your trunk, that the sunroof almost pops out... But I'm sure there are problems like that.

The only problems I have had w/ my sunroof is my bezel breaks & falls off & occasionally I can't vent it (by pushing the button only a little back.) It comes & goes.

the pop up mine does but they'll all do that... when you shut the door the wind will push the glass up so it can escape... it create a lil vacuum and needs to release pressure and does it by going out the sunroof...

at least thats wat i've been told lol

yeah, the sunroof is designed to pop up like that when the door shuts...but, all the other problems seem like things you can fix with adjustments to the track...most of the time the issues are caused by GM not taking the time to properly make those adjustments

how do you make those adjustments? are there any diagrams or instructions on where the adjustment points are. I took it to the dealer and they said they replaced a module. It fixed the rattling for a day or so but as soon as i opened it up they came right back.

I have the same problem. It has taken me 4 dealer visits to finally get new sunroof tracks put in. Hopefully they do it right and make sure everything is adjusted correctly.

searched it up but couldn't find any how to's. If someone want to write one or point me in the right direction i'd be most grateful. My sunroof is so annoying rattling all the time. I love it though i'd never get a car without one.

i have had a few cars with sunroofs and they have never popped open when the doors shut. I think it is a crappy GM design and that it isn't being held in place very well.

Yea, mine doesn't seem to sit flush with the room sometimes and when you shut the door it pops. I asked the dealer I bought it from and he did it to the one on the floor and said that did it too.. =/

The sunroof lifting slightly then settling back into place after you close the door is completely normal. My car does it as does every car with the tilt/slide GM sunroof. I do have one question for you all, when you open your sunroofs, do you have an express open or do you have to hold the button the whole time?

I have to hold the button the whole time. Why can i push up on the sunroof when it is closed and still have it move. The rubbing it makes over bumps drives me nuts.

Lubricate your seals with some silicone grease, that should take care of the squeaking. The fact that the Cobalt/Ion do not have an express open / express close feature on the sunroof really irritates me. When I asked the dealer about it he said GM eliminated the feature because "customers like it better that way". If so, then why is this car like the only one in the GM lineup that doesn't have it?? - Don't mind me just ranting a little.

That is correct, sorry I misunderstood what you were saying. The opening is just a slight movement.

Yeah, mine pops up when you shut the doors. And I've gotten the rattles over bumps. Silicone works, but eventually the rattles come back. I've also had the switch & bezel fall out numerous times.
