sway bar movment
sway bar movment
So ive had a few noises, clunks, creeks ETC that have come up recently. And just now i got under the car ( still on flat ground so not alot of room ) and my sway bar moves when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the right.( from side to side about 1/2 inch ) NO movment when turned to the left.
Im also getting these clunks and creeks when the steering wheel is turned to the right only.
Also some un-even ware on the inside of driver side tire. These possibly connected?
Whats causing the sway bar to only move when wheels turned to the right?
thanks.
l61 auto if that helps

Sway bar movement wouldnt cause uneven wear.
Check you ball joints, CAB bushings, tierod ends, and wheel bearings as they could all cause uneven wear. If everything is good then get a new alignment.
As for the sway bar, you could replace the bushings on it.

Ive also noted awhile back, my car seeming sloppy on the highway, getting pushed by wind very easily. But i suspected steering rack for that, cuz of that notorious sound of marbles behind the dash.
Check the items I listed and if they all check out to be good then get it on an alignment rack; its recommended to get an alignment every 6 months.
Everything looked visually OK. The mounts are in place where they suppose to be, no cracks from what i can see. If my balljoints are fucked, their still in the "going" process and not blown yet . My moneys on the tie rod ends..
That being the case, i think im gunna go get all round ball joints and tie rod ends.
the cars got 182k kms on it, i havent touched the front end yet in 25k kms, so its probably due regardless.

Not really, they are pretty straight forward. undo the ball joint. remove the rear cradle bolt, remove the two front CAB bushin bolts. Push the ball joint down, twist the arm to pull the rear CAB out. May need a pry bar on the rear CAB.
Alright, i feel a little less stupid now. That i realize its a strut front end, nn upper ball joints lol.
Im also not touching tie rod ends, those are tight as **** and look good.
Its definatly the sway bar end link things. I even narrowed it down to the passanger side is the issue.
Those get replaced.
Along with both lower ball joints. ( worn tire says enough for me, so both get done )
Front end alignment.
All lower control arm bushing, struts everything looks good.
What is a rear CAB ?

(CAB = control arm bushing)
They have voids in the bushing that tend to tear. Powell Race Parts makes a sphereical rear CAB that will likely never need replaced. OEM ones are voided. Moog makes a solid rubber one. The new control arms you buy will have voided ones. I would suggest a solid bushing or Powell's sphereical before installing it.
Could the CABS be causing the inside of my tire to wear?
the passanger side feels pretty chipped and worn, driver side not so much - feels pretty good actually, but the driver side has the worn tire.
mine do not look like his do. mine still sit flush/straight https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...shings-224841/
