As Cobalt_Supercharged stated, it's under warranty. It's also only for the 05 SS/SCs, the 06s should have came with that latest version already installed.

Funny you mention the car doesn't shut off when you pull the key out...when i start my car sometimes, and when I let go of the key, the starter keeps cranking the engine! it's only happened a few times though.

I'll keep a look-out for problems though, since both our cars were built in the same month

Yeah, their explaination is that the BCM is bad and it's basically not letting the car know if the key is in the ignition or in the few cases where it kept running, letting it know that the car shut off. Which makes some sense and would explain why it would just up and stall. Eventually when the module completely died out, it just couldn't tell that there was a key in the ignition so it wouldn't allow the car to start.

Just keep an eye on it, if the idle gets worse or it starts stalling when it shouldn't be (i.e. you're in neutral or the clutch is in), have em check it out, that's what teh warranty is there for.

Its supposed to do that ...tap the starter and the car keeps cranking until it starts. My redline and a few others do that...So im 99% sure its supposed to be that way.

yeah, our ignitions are computer controlled, you arent actually controlling the starter yourself, its the car-puter

She's HOOOOOOOOOOME! So the service guy told me BCM...get there, look over the paperwork and they replaced the fuel pump. So I asked him about it, and he looked it over and he's like "Oh. Yeah, I guess they did." So basically my very first guess was right.

well uh, i just took mine in for the same thing...

mine has been doing this irractic idle off and on, then yesterday on the way home it cut off on the highway while in stop and go traffic...scared me to death to say the least, cause mainly, it wouldnt crank back up.

also my car is in for a horrible noise when turning left under load. just nasty sounding...no ripped boots though...should be interesting to see what they fine...

i get home and my dad and i crawl into the good 'ol sevice.gm.com website from home and start looking around. low and behold there is a document open on the irractic idle issue with the engine warm. document id # 1774823 to be exact. my cobalt is a 06 so that as you may. anyways, they recommend that you update the pcm, and if that doesnt fix it then leave it alone because they havent come out with a total fix for it yet. so ill have to live with it? i think not. this thing will be turned in under lemon law if they cant get a fix for it. after yesterday i could really care less about this car. GM knows there is an issue cause the document was just posted on 03/03/2006. so they know about it and they better fix it.

Mine came out like this when ran on the CALID site...can anyone decode???? Fast said if I get this it should make my intense kit run even better.

well the calibration they gave me seems to have fixed it sorta...its only done it once since i had it updated, but now the car feels alot different and it feels like the bypass valve is being more abrupt when ive got a light load on the car and speeding up...this is starting to get to me, :-(

they had to order a left front axle assy. for that noise to. according to the tech that they called about the question of the noise, they've been having this problem with alot of them????

i have an 06 SS/SC and i am having the same problem. dosent matter if the engine is cold or hot. it just randomly starts having a rough idle, usually when i am in neutral sitting at a light. after reading these posts, i think i will take my car to the dealer and see what they say. i will keep yall updated as to what happens.

So do you just have to go to the dealer and ask them to update the PCM or hows that work??

Thanks

Iv had the problem 2 time sins I got the car. Both of them happend befor 800 miles on the car.
After I had a problem with the plug on the T/B and it was fixed I have not had any problems sins.

Ill let you know if I do.

Some one posted a link to file a comlaint in some of the thread dealing with the clutch problem.
It might help if we all started reporting the problem like they are with the clutch.

Later

Not sure if this classifys as the same problem but my car gets this rough take off, if I am on a roll or a dig the car waits 2 seconds before accepting throttle commands. You can hear an attempt of it trying to go and it hicups and then moves. It's very annoying and happens more times then not. I am 99% it's not the intakes fault either.

Floating RPM's between 1500 and 3000 RPM, shouldn't do that at all. Constant change all over.

If you have an 05 get the reflash. It's free, why not? If you have an '06, just keep an eye on it. If it gets worse or does it to the point of stalling, get it to the dealer ASAP.

So to get the reflash all i have to do is go to the dealer and ask them to reflash the car or what? Im not trying to sound like a N00B but what people have been saying is that the dealer dont know what there talking about.

Thanks

While I don't have the exact same issue (nor the 2.0) on very rare occasions my RPMs have remained high when coming to a stop and hte car is in neutral. As an example I was doing about 50km/h in 2nd gear after having come off a turn and the road is too short to bother shifting to 3rd before I make my left-hand turn. As I come coasting up the light turns red so I ease my foot off the gas, allow the engine to slow me down and put it in neutral at about 2000RPM. I just happened to look down at the tach while sitting at the light and my revs were up in the ballpark of 2500 and I gurantee you my foot was NOT on the gas. I bliped the gas and all of a sudden it returned to normal and I didn't see it again the whole way home. It happens rarely but it still makes no sense to me why it's doing it...I've checked the gas pedal and it doesn't appear to be sticking at all and the only time it seems to happen is when coming to a stop.
