I have a 09 SS/TC with 1900 miles on it....Does anyone have a thump in the trunk of their SS? It only happens when I'm idling at a light, at no regular interval, just completely random. I don't want to take it in for service unless I have some idea what it could be....help me guys!

 

is it like 3 thumps, my car does it but i dont know WTF it is

 

i swear i think i hear things some times like that. lmao. one day i swore something hit my car. it was 3 loud thumps while i was driving down a 35mph road. i pulled over and everything to look. nothing.

 

So is the moral of the thump to just drive with the radio louder? I've never counted the thumps...I will tomorrow, but 3 probably sounds right. At least I'm not crazy and I really am hearing it!

 

if its the same as my SS/SC, its the EVAP lines purging doing a self test. completely normal. it took me forever to find out exactly what it was. lol

blazin is right its doing a self check my car does it to its either that or your trunk is doing a self test

 

I hear the thump, it's loud when the radio volume is turned high for some reason...

Mine does it when the radio is turned way low or turned off, so I doubt it's the subwoofer. Thanks for the help guys! I really appreciate you saving me a trip to the dealer looking like a crazy woman who hears things!

 

mine does it when i pull it in the garage at night. my dad walked by one time when it was parked and it did it and he was like wtf was that. never new what it was.

 

but he listens to kelly clarkson so the sub wouldnt be making any noise at all
