tough shifts??

I just got my 06 cobalt ss/sc and for some reason tonight it just seemed to be tough to put it in gear manly 1st through 4th it may have all ways been like this but I have just noticed. It just seem when I first got it, it went into gear easy. I was woundering if anyone has gone through this. I really would like to know if I should take it back to the dealer? I've looked around for forms and didn't find anything. you guys need more info out of me I'll get it to you I really would like to know whats up.

In my 2.4 it is very hard to get into first. I feel like I am going to break it. But I just got used to it so whatever, lol.

For the trouble upshifting (if its really not a mechanical problem), make sure you are putting the clutch all the way to the floor when you move the shifter and make sure the moving of the shifter is co-ordinated with the pressing of the clutch to the floor.....I know it sounds simple, but all of us screw up the occasional shift or lose rhythm. As for downshifting and the resistence to putting it into first, most modern transmissions have a protective lockout on first that is meant to prevent disasterous downshifts into first when moving. The need for the lockout is obviously pretty small when you are coming to a stop at very slow speeds, but that might be what is causing the resistence. I would suggest double clutching whenever you downshift into first gear, as it will prolong the life of your clutch and will make for smoother downshifting. Hope that helps!

I occasionally have difficulty getting into first gear while at a complete stop.
I often release the clutch and clutch again and try to get it into gear.

Is this a sign of a bigger problem to come?

Samething for me, first is a little rough in motion and at a stop. Sometimes double clutch doesn't even help.

I am haveing a big problem with second. Last night i took my car to the track. I won 3 out of 5 drags but I would have won them all if I could get the car in second. When I take off in first then try to shift to second it just will not go. It is causing me to have to slow down quite a bit before it will shift. The car will win a lot of races when it will shift. But I don't know how to fix the problem.
Someone please help me out too!~!!!!!!!

Just FYI the Cobalt has a protective lockout that prevents you from putting your car into first unless you are slower than 20 MPH. If you have problems getting into first, drop into neutral, clutch it again and then push it into first. Hope this helps.

I feel you. Sucks when your high in the rpms then go to shift into 2nd and it doesn't go all the way in and your engine roars. Not sweet. Pull hard ****!

I though my transmission was fine... UNTIL I raced my friend with a 2.4 tonight! I launched great made it to the top a first about 1 car ahead, banged into second... ALMOST it felt like it went into gear but when i let the clutch out it bounched off the rev limiter, by the time I got it into second he was about 3 cars ahead, and I had to play catch-up until almost 100 mph!!! We raced twice and it happened BOTH TIMES!!!! Then after he went home I tried it again and it went into second smooth as glass!!! piece a ****!

I have trouble shifting from 2nd to third usually happens when I race I lost a couple of races because of it slowing down. It pisses me off cause It gets stuck at the wrong time.

The B&M shifter solved the 2-3 shift problem I had when I first got the car. Now my problem is the clutch slave cylinder not releasing properly and squealing. I hope my smooth shifting comes back after I get this problem squared away. I really do miss getting into all my gears the first time.

My 2.4 is smooth except when I am stopped and put it in neutral let out the clutch...then push the clutch back in, it's a little stiff trying to put it back into first and even reverse. Thats the only time I have problems, if it's even a real problem....
