Tpms..
Tpms..
so the tire pressure sensors are acting up in my car. I was out last night just driving around and it flashed up to service the system. I never hit any pothole or done anything out of the norm, then when i go out today it was gone??
anyway as i was on my way home tonight just feet from my driveway it came up again.. again i was out for a few hours and nothing out of the norm (like hitting potholes or anything). I have an appointment into the dealer the 15th to have it looked at but im just wondering if anyone has had this problem?

I sorta had this happen. I had new tires put on after not having tires on the wheels for 6 months. The my front right sensor worked at first, then stopped working a few hours later. Took it to the dealer a few days later and they did a relearn and it fixed it. My issue may have been due to my nearly flat tire I had though.
Any update on this one? Last weekend while driving on the highway mine started doing the same thing. Not there, 3 starts later it is, gone 2 or 3 days later. I've tried a re-learn twice to no avail (doesn't pickup the tire that keeps getting lost). I adjust tire pressures, drive around, sensor picks up changes (when it's online) and then randomly pukes again.
I'm going to give one more relearn a shot but I'm wondering if the mounting hardware is loose since the sensor itself is working, if the battery were shot I would never expect it to communicate at all. Maybe I hit a bump the wrong way and the sensor got angry. I'm trying to park the car with the tires in different orientations to see when it is at the top if it fails, which could mean the mounting hardware failed. Just curious what the OP ended up doing since other threads I searched said:
1) I live with it (driving me stupid)
2) Mounting hardware
3) Bad battery
4) Cracked sensor

Mine just started doing this too . Last week I noticed the front passenger TPMS sensor flat lined but the others worked fine . IT happened 3-4 times intermittently . I unplugged the battery and let it sit about 10 minutes .... been fine ever since . It's been a week and no problems yet.

Now that I think of it though, that was the same side of the vehicle that would occasionally pick up tire pressures when my snow tires were on which do not have TPMS in the wheels. I'd be scrolling through and it said front driver (or occasionally one of the other wheels) was reading tire pressures. Interesting considering the tires are stacked in the corner and those wheels don't have 'em
I'm going to attempt another relearn (which failed 4 times straight the last time I tried) and then I'll try the battery and see if it resolves it. If not, in it goes for a new sensor and see if that resolves it. Oddly enough a friend of mine 2 hours away started having the exact same problem, and his is the same as mine, every 6 to 8 starts it farts out and he gets the Service TPMS message.
Odd, I'll try the battery. What I noticed is it isn't picking up tire pressures properly from time to time, and that typically leads to the flatline. Watching it on the way home last night it started out at 34psi (I converted from kPa) and was fine. Next thing I know it says my front driver pressure has dropped to 28PSI....ya right like I'm going to trust you. I get home and sure enough, tire pressures are the
Im pretty sure its just bad sensors we are seeing and a trip to the dealer to replace them is all we need. Wait, are they a warrantyable item?
I would imagine so, it's not a wear item, they're hiding inside the tire
. The only thing I can see them throwing at me is I purchased/installed new/different tires but that was 2.5 months ago so if they give me grief I'll point it out and bring in my receipt from the tire purchase/installation. I suspect you're right that it's a sensor going down the drain.
Mine did the same as yours but flatlined. I started the car and started driving. About 30 minutes into my trip on the highway it randomly popped up and the front driver showed ---. I never hit a bump, didn't hit any road debris, was just cruising at ~75mph in the left lane and up it came.

samezies!
my RR sensor flat lined tonight around 9pm.. and all the others were at 32psi.. after i drove it till 12am.. and restarted it.. the light was off.. i work at toyota and we see this all the time.. either a bad sensor from contamination or a relearn.. but they may have a tendenacy to "short" out if water is induced when adding air to the tires.. so be careful where you fill up with air.. some places dont empty the tanks of fluid
