Trunk Ajar

I have seen a couple related posts from years ago but didnt have a clear answer. My car says trunk ajar everytime I turn it on. It is clearly closed and from time to time if i move the couple things that are in my trunk around the message will go away but not always. I hear there is some sort of sensor on the latch. Does anyone have a picture of this? Is this replaceable or do I need to replace the entire latch assembly?

i would replace it. But remove it and clean it first and see if it helps. I had the same problem years ago, but mine was because it was misaligned and the plastic that goes on the wall wouldn't let the trunk close all the way... So I removed the plastic and problem was gone

I looked at this the other day. Does the trunk lock need to be removed to be able to remove the latch assembly?
