Trunk ajar? Alarm going off

My car has been saying that the trunk is open every time that I get in the car for a week. The trunk is closed but stills says it's open. Also for no reason the alarm will start going off. Does anyone know what to do to fix this?
Thanks

Could be people or animals bumping into your car. Squirrels or cats ontop of it setting off the alarm?
Are you accidently hitting the buttons on your key FOB?

the keys are sitting on the counter so not hitting the fob. How do I check the latch and what do I look for? I know where it latches at but is there a wire or fuse that may be loose?

Tom, there are 2 bolts holding the latch in. Take those out and you should be able to take the latch out. At least that's what I'm assuming since I've never done it, but that's what it looks like. There's a wire running to the latch, so I'd assume that goes to the sensor on the latch. That sensor could have gone bad. Idk how to test that, but that's at least something to look at.

sounds like a hood or trunk switch. i had issues with my car setting off the car alarm all the time. turns out the hood switch went bad which is tied into the car alarm. yours sounds like the trunk swtch if you keep getting trunk ajar.
