Uhh, wtf?

So I was filling up tonight and when I was done as I went to pull away a loud hissing sound and visible smoke/steam was coming from my engine bay/underneath. I shut the car off and looked under saw nothing out of the ordinary. I pushed the car to a spot to check it out and under the A/C pressure sensor/hose/compressor I could see visible green fluid on the subframe and sensor itself. I couldn't really smell anything abnormal either.

Is this freon? IIRC freon is supposed to be colorless..

Any ideas?

it's definitely not freon.

It's probably 134r or whatever, and i do think it's green.

Our coolant is a pinkish orange...

No I have pink coolant

It would be whatever factory fluid is. Well maybe, a body shop might have refilled it a while back.

It's the A/C system. The fluid has a neon green/yellow color to it. Not really a big deal if you don't plan on using it anytime soon. I personally left mine with no charge for like 8 months.

Yea, I knew it had to be something with the A/C. Just for testing I tried running the A/C. Sounded very funny and it did not get cold at all.

It's winter here now anyway, hopefully the car is gone by next summer...

R134 is freon.. And if it has leak detector in it, which is neon green, then it could very well be ac system leaking.

It's the oil they put in the compressor. Freon is colorless, you are correct.

It sounds like you have a leak.

Yeah idk, I did the process on multiple cars and never smelled anything. That was in a shop with Idk 30 bays, so maybe it was masked by other smells or something.

Just for the record your defrost still uses your A/C in the winter, I'd get it fixed.

Everything is working fine, including Defrost. It doesn't interfere with my AC at all.
