My dad's 2.0 has been having some problems lately. After first gear it shakes, almost violently, when you accelerate. Anyone got any ideas?

 

Hmm... well do you get this shaking during ANY acceleration, or only when accelerating when boosting? It could be a problem with the car not boosting correctly. If the car is still under warranty I would take it in and have it checked out.

 

any and all acceleration in 2nd-5th gear, never in 1st

 

Hmmm... well the only thing I can think is to check the motor and tranny mounts. Does he have any aftermarket mounts or anything? After I put my Ingalls on the car I noticed that when accelerating I can "feel" the motor and it makes for a bit of a rougher ride.

 

Is it ONLY under acceleration or is it specific to acceleration? I would also say possibly a wheel/tire problem but I would think that'd be noticable all the time and get slightly more noticeable under acceleration.

I'm with everyone else, if it's under warranty, let the dealer sort it out.

 

I've got it too. Im confused because it feels like a tire balance issue, but I balanced and rebalanced the front tires and its still there.
