Valve cover leaking oil

I have the lnf engine and have noticed the valve cover is leaking on the passenger side and a little bit on the drivers side. I put a cai and after doing so I noticed the oil on the passenger side. A friend with the same engine '09 has the same problem. Has anyone else seen this on their engine, what did u have done

There's a TSB out, search for posts by rukkee (I think that's how you spell it) on oil leaks and how GM recommends resolving it. It entails the dealership pulling off the valve cover and I've still avoided doing it because I'm terrified they'll **** it up. It's not exactly "leaking" from the valve cover, it's more sweating as a result of a leak past the HPFP and camshaft position sensor.

So it turns out I need a new valve cover gasket, so that's on order. And when I got home from droping my car off at chevy I had a recall for the power steering, so that is on order too.

So where exactly was your valve cover leaking from? Did the dealer use a new updated valve cover gasket? If not, what did they do inside the valve cover to get it to stop leaking???

Thanks,
Dimitri

ya i hear this is a common problem on the LNF... mine sweats oil a bit too... should i have my valvecover gasket replaced as well? is this a concern for LNF owners and will GM do it for free? or will it cost me to have this minor problem resolved?

mine was covered under warranty. i would definetly recomend getting it changed. The seeping started on the left near the passenger side engine mount. and also behind where the fuel line connects to the fuel rail. but now its been coming out from the front of the engine. it is still on order so ill update you later.

I'm still **** nervous of having someone pull my valve cover off, seal what needs to be sealed and put it all back together properly. I've got the oil coming out of all the places the TSB states but it's by far the worst around the camshaft sensor and the end-plate AGAIN even after my dealer replaced that once.

Subscribing 'cause I'm curious how it all comes out .

They did it that quick?!? Did they perform the TSB, let it sit while the sealant cures before driving it first then return it to you?

this specific tsb is for the lnf only. I personally dont know if there was one for the lsj, but if you are modded thats a huge toss up, depends on the dealer. Its just a valve cover, you could replace the valve cover yourself.
