Valve stem snapped...

What... The... ****... That's what I said while trying to get my valve stem caps off.. they were like corroded on. Anyway, after trying for a bit the whole thing snapped in half and now all the air is spilling out of my tire. What am I going to have to do to get this fixed? I assume I can't use a regular valve stem due to the TPS, right?

Tire has to be taken to a tire shop etc to have a new valve stem put in. You can't replace it without taking the tire off the rim, which you can't do without a tire machine. They will prollcharge u around 15-20 bucks.

Is that the case even with the TPS? Isn't it all one piece?

You need a new tore monitor sensor. Same procedure with removing the tire and all that.. but with a much greater parts cost.

Hopefully you saved the nut part off the stem that broke.

The new sensor doesn't come with the nut that holds it in. Don't ask me why...

I bought 4 new sensors on Ebay for 75 bucks. They were in GM packages. After the tire shop installed them I reprogramed them myself

Using non factory caps can allow water into the stem and corode faster. You should have any issues getting it replaced. It happens at my dealer all the time.

from what I'm seeing it looks like you can replace just the valve stem, not the whole sensor... Is that correct?

no the stem is part of the sensor and can not be replaced individually. if it were the rubber ones then yes they can be replaced individually and as others have said as long as its the stock valve stem cap it will be covered under warranty. i can't even count how many i've replaced under warranty.

Bought the car used so I can't be sure they are stock... Knowing my luck, I won't get these replaced under warranty...

Anyone have a close up picture of what the stock caps look like?

you have the rubber ones or the metal ones. the ones you posted are the stock rubber valve stems but they have the "chrome" covers on them which are not stock, also those valve stem caps aren't stock in the link either.

Any ideas on how to get the other 3 caps off without breaking the other 3 sensors?
