What is this on the dashboard?

Hey guys, new to these forums.

Here is a little issue that has been bothering me for sometime now. I don't know if it's car or alarm related, but once in a while when I turn on my car, I get a light flickering on the dashboard of a car with a little lock beside it. The car won't start and I need to wait about 15 minutes to retry.

Here is a picture I took.

Anyone know what this is? Should I go to the dealer or get the alarm checked? This happens quite alot.

Thanks

theft detterent it cuts fuel so no start till like you said 10-15 mins of key on waiting, grand-ams / prix were known for this Pass lock Problem A.K.A Ass lock. dont know if the balt uses the pass lock system or not? easy fix for the ams/prix pull radio dash housing and and reach back twoards the ignition cylinder and cut a certain wire and tape it off, the security light will forever be on but it never will cut fuel on you again

Thanks for all the answers.

I'll have to get it checked out tomorrow, oh by the way it's an aftermarket alarm system.

Compustar.

It happens to much and it's annoying waiting for it to go away.

The passlock bypass may not be working correctly or may have been hooked up incorrectly, that is all I can think of.
