I've never had a problem turning, doing u-turns or getting in and out of parking spots.

And when my profession has me driving cars in and out of bays to lift them in extremly tight cornering situations I've only seen the Aveo and the 4 wheel steer Gm trucks turn better than the cobalt.

The front wheel drive isn't what makes it terrible. It's the electronic steering. I had a Pontiac G6 for awhile and it was the same. Really though its not that bad unless you take a turn really slow. I can still make most U turns just fine

Its pretty simple why the cobalt SS doesn't turn well, the 18's would rub against the wheel well, go ahead and put the 18's on your ls and **** the wheel all the way and see if they dont rub.

I'm telling ya the 18's are killers. I don't have much of a problem turning or parking in everyday driving, but that's because I know the car after driving it so long. And I don't try any crazy parking lot maneuvers. I still can't get over the fact that the base Silverado has a smaller turning radius. That cracks me up.

Yeah, ss/sc models, maybe even the 2.4's, but they have bad turning radius. I as well have to put my car into reverse sometimes when parking in a parking lot between two cars. My 1996 toyota corolla turns like a beast. I can turn around like it was my job.

I got a Redline, so I can't speak for how the 18" wheel affect your steering, but I gotta say the RL turns great, very similiar to other smaller cars I've drive, except of course, for Mitsu's which, because Mitsu refuses to use any for of variable ration steering, all are around 42 feet. I've never seen anything like them, but the RL is as manueverable as I'd want. Sure, Can't just swing the rear end around like a RWD, but it's MORE than adaquet. Man people whine about nothing a lot here.

I had a 98 civic before my 06 cobalt and the difference is rediculous. My civic could cut a corner like nothing(going slow included), in my cobalt unless I'm going fast the turning radius is a killer.

Motor Trend and Car and Driver both list it as 37.4ft for the S/C and LS.

Its a joke...those that think it turns good have never had a car that turns good.

AVRO it depends on if you have 18" wheels or 15" wheels, because the LS's turn like a dream. This whole thread is worthless anyways, the started bitches about everything on his car, I Dont think he test drove it

I think it is do to the design of the car. Since the SS/sc has more power it would kill the axles vary quickly if the truing radius was better. I believe that the EVO has the same problem. I really do not have too much of a problem with it because the power make up for it. I am also sure the 18's play a part in it too.

I agree, turning radius is horrible. Where I could do u-turns with my GTI, the SS/SC doesn't come close. The 18's have alot do with it. I also had 17's on the GTI.

My turning radius is also awful. I noticed it when I first got it. I'll go to pull into a parking spot, and have to pull back out to avoid hitting the car in the next spot....pure crap.

But I love my car, so oh well.

DUDE! it's because you have an LS package.

Most of us are talking about SS and SC models. There's a difference between the 2.

I dispute these facts. My magaizne tests of 2.2L Cobalts do not share these numbers. I have 18 cars I think and this is about the worst--esp whn you consider the size of the car.
