Why is it so hard to take off the lugs

Ive tried the thing that comes with cobalts, ive tried a ft breaker bar and a 3 ft breaker bar and still cant get even one of them off, its a 4 lug btw....they were torqued with one of those air wrenches last time i got new rotors so maybe thats why there so tight....


what gives?

Are you turning it the right way? lol jk. The "tech" prob over tightened them, try a longer breaker bar if you can.

yeaaaaa I was turning it left, I dont want to have to take it to the shop again to get them taken off, cuz then ill have to get the work done there!

Probably over-torqued. If they were done at 100ft/lb like most wheels you wouldn't even need a breaker... I can get my TC's lugs off easily enough with just a spider wrench.

i will not have tires put on by shops anymore. i have had to replace 13 lugs because they cross threaded them putting them on with an air impact. but ur best bet is to take it back to them and have them change it, they were the last ones to put the lugs on and if they are cross threaded and snap like mine did then it will be on them to replace it. i went thru it with the shop when i left with one lug cross threaded n half on, another snapped n that was only a few miles after i left, turned around n told them they fucked up n they replaced all 4 right then n there..... if this is what happened in ur case, hope not tho

Whoever torqued them torqued them wayy too tight, or you're really shrimpy (jk). The right way is to get out the torque wrench, set it to 125 ft/lbs, and wrench on the lugs. Go get that shop to do it the right way.

they just dont care about your ****. the shop i worked at, the boss made sure i did everything perfect and cleaned up after myslef, like wipe finger prints off the car and such

well obviously if you could fix your own **** you woudlnt need to bring it to us then now would you (so whos the retarded uneducated one when it comes to cars hmmm) You probably had some dumb GS (not an actual TECH) put your tires on that doesnt make 75% of us retarded and the torque spec on a 4 lug is usually 80ftlbs not 125

that torque wrench isnt close to being accurate the only ones i reccomend are the snap on ones but bring you wallet the good ones are 200-300 a piece the ones are sears are ok and a little cheaper crafsman is def better than that crap u posted

That would be really crappy if he put them on at 125 ft-lbs. Not even the majority of 5-bolt rims are 125; usually they're 100.
