Won't Start

I have, what I hope is a simple question. The issue began when I was not able to get the key out of the ignition. I have been having this issue on and off for awhile and if I shift in and out of park I can usually get it to release the key. Guessing it is just a switch. The other night I was not able to get the key out and the car remained on, I shut off everything I could but it still managed to drain the battery, which I expected. When I attempted to jump it I could not get enough charge using the terminal under the hood. I chose to attempt to hook the charger to the battery in the truck. Still no luck getting it started. In the process of attempting this I think I may have ruined battery charger as well. Tried the charger on my other vehicle and it won't work. The next step I took was to attempt to jump it using the terminal under the hood. Still no luck, can't even get the starter to click now. Key turns and acts like it is going to start but don't even hear the clicking or the engine turn over. I have 2 thoughts on what I may have done to it. First thought is I ruined the battery using the starting assist on my charger briefly or my second thought is I may have fried a computer. There is enough charge in the battery to have the headlights on full brightness as well. What nightmare Any help or thoughts would be great.
Thanks.

Update: Got it started but another issue

OK I have an update. I was finally able to get it started by jumping it. The charger is definitely bad. But when it started up it went into engine power reduced mode and will only let the RPMs go to 2500. At idle it idles rough as well. It has not stalled but acts like it wants to. I am going to bring it in tomorrow and have the switch fixed so I can get the key out and look at the message as well. But I don't trust mechanics 100% so want to make sure they know what they are talking about. There is also a message saying it is in batter save mode or something like that. Are these codes related and once the battery is fully charged will it go away?

Why dont you try charging car to car?

also unhook the battery so it can clear the ECM.

it doesnt matter where you charge from (post under hood or actual battery in trunk)

That fixed it once the computer was reset. Hopefully doesn't happen again. Now I just have to get the transmission parking switch fixed. Thanks.

Glad you've found a fix! If I can be of any assistance (recall/warranty information, assisting in working with a dealership), please contact me via PM!
