wont start...
need help... go in my cobalt sc and it wont start. I still have juice the lights and radio come on. But when i crank it, all it does is make a low click noise....I checked the battery and it seem ok....what do you guys think it may be. I have roadside service picking it up tomorrow to take it to the dealer.
FYI, if you can jump from the trunk, do it. The grounds in the engine bay suck and there is rarely a good enough connection to jump from the front end, I always jump from the back cause I get a good connection everytime
try jumping the starter motor while someone turns the key. if it starts up like that then it's a bad starter. just make sure you ground away from the starter. that would be my guess if it's clicking, and a jump from the battery didn't help. either that or it's just a bad connection somewhere. go through the basic battery maintenance, take off both wires from the battery make sure they're clean, make sure the post that they connect to is clean, re-tighten them and try again.
i am having the same problem project freeze did u learn the fix i have tried all of these things already? wtf all i did was lower my car then bam wouldnt start after i finished went i turn the key it just clicks and if i hold the key down and clutch pushed in it just clicks and clicks and clicks every time it clicks all the lights flash in the car none of my lights are dim my hid's are still bright"? anybody got any answers or suggestions i dont know how to jump the starter well damn

if you think its the starter have someone try to start it while you tap the starter with a hammer or a hard plastic mallet.(Dont hit it to hard so as not to dent it)
If it is the starter this should get it started unless it (the starter)fried.
But mind you this is to get it started and will still need replacing if this works.
Also check that there is 12 volts at the starter with a meter when you are trying to start it.
Check the continuity of the ground with the meter while you are there as well.
If there is no voltage then its sometingg else.
Another thing you could check is the connections on the battery to make sure they are tight.

I had the same problem the battery drained from the freezing cold I waited till it was warm enough and I jump started and it came on but it got cold again so I swapped the batterry and put a kenitec and no problems since lol
If your battery froze it would do it in and wont be reliable.
When a battery is low and it gets really cold it will freeze and ruin it.
Check the battery voltage with a meter if you dont have 12v the battery will have been froze and short out the plates in one of the cells and you will read 10v if you lose one cell.(2 volts per cell on a standard battery,6 cells X2 =12)
You should still be able to boost it wih another car but you will have to leave it connected for a while befor you try and start it.
If you dont have another car you could put a portable heater in the trunk facing the battery for a while and heat it up.

bro had the same problem yesterday and today yesterday after the battery was unplugged for a bit it started up fine, today that didnt work noticed that my radio would not go off though i could hop in car and listen to radio without key or anything so i thought maybe that drained my battery, so we unplugged the fuse for radio and my car starts fine...i know wtf problem not solved but my car starts and ill take it from there. Try and see it wont hurt
