Wow now what?

So I was on my way to work and my car started making a weird noise and had a big lose of power. It sounded like it was missing. I got to work and decided not to drive it anymore. Once I opened the hood I saw fluid leading to the spark plugs. I got some tools and took all the spark plugs out only to find One spark plug not even screwed in. After looking at it you could clearly tell that the spark plug had worked its way out 3/4 of the treads then striped the other 1/4 of threads on the spark plug. The conductor on the spark plug had been broke off and assuming that its in the motor. Then a new spark plug would not even go in. The boot had been torn apart from the spark plug shooting out. My car still sits at that work

my questions are
How will I get a spark plug in there?
Will I have to take the head off cause of the missing metal piece on the plug?
How costly is this?

I need insight form anyone that will give it please

holy f. that blows. you're gonna want ANYTHING in the engine out ASAP. don't drive the car until that's taken care of, and dont even try and get a spark plug in there. have it towed to the dealer ASAP and let them fix it under warranty

I have 35000 miles on the car and the plugs are original.
Should I try to have them fix for warranty work?

Your sig says gm stage 3, didn't that mean it wasn't warrantied with stage 3?

And hopefully if you get that piece out, you can hopefully just rethread the threads, if they can't be rethreaded, and its not going to be warrantied :O! Its not going to make you happy

Who often should you change spark plugs for the SS?
My dad says there is a small chance that the piece of the spark plug may have when through the motor. He said we can find out by doing a compression test.

Hopefully all I have to do is rethread the head

you have 100,000 mile plugs.....they will warranty it. as long as those are the factory plugs. if you replaced them yourself then they will not cover it.

that missing piece is not in the motor anymore that went out the exhaust, Heli coil is what your gunna have to do to get a new plug in. Some people are pretty good at it and dont need to pull the head. Downsize a vaccume and suck the shaveings out of the cyl. You might be able to use a thread chaser to clean up the threads also

So I should go in the dealership and tell them that the original plug was defect at only 35000 miles and they will fix it under warranty?

My warranty was over at 30000 miles.
But im up to try anything.

Cobalt's have a 3/36000 mile bumper to bumper and 6/60000 mile powertrain warranty. That should fall under that . Stage 3 voids your warranty thou , but that looks like a fault in the head , not abuse .

ok so I called the dealership and they said that they would fix it under warranty.
They dont know that i have stage 3 yet and I dont think they will notice.
My only problem is the option B's extra coolant tank its clearly not fastened to look oem yet i dont have brackets for it and it sticks out like a sore thumb. if they see it iam scared they will be like " you modded you cobalt and your warranty is void " but at this point they dont know and they said they will fix everything there selves and pay for the towe
I want this fixed under warranty
what should I do?

The dual pass shouldn't void the warranty , it's the stage 3 pcm and pulley that i'd be worried about . No matter what thou there must have been a defect in the head or someone cross threaded or stripped the plug installing them.

ya you modding your car shouldn't have anything to do with this particular issue IMO

Just go for it. If they dont fix it under warrantee its gonna cost a fortune because I dont thing that you could rethread the head and have it hold for very long...

Let them run with it and see what happens. They didn't ask if you modded it and if they fix it under warranty, then they notice, its their own fault. If they already said they would fix it then its a verbal agreement of sorts so.
