wtf now....

my car has been acting funny, its running SUPER RICH, and when accerating from 1000-5000rpm the power feels very wavey. like u can feel it pull than die, than u feel it pull again that die, but once it gets to about 5 thousand it picks back up and acts normal. ive been noticing a loss in power, the other night me and my buddy took each others car for a rip, he has a stock ss/sc, and his felt the same power wise as my stage 2ed ss, even he said so...... so than i raced a 2.4 g5 gt..... i pulled away but not like i thoth, he sorta hung with me for a little bit than i started to pull away....... i donno whats up with my car, i tried changing my plugs, and that didnt help. theres no strange sounds, or any CEL's ....... gm says my car is fine, and wont check the stage 2 tune to make sure its the newest one. what does this sound like guys, please help.... i'm about to pull my hair out. keep in mind i still have my stock exhaust on, because tag is being ******* gay........

Angry Runs Rough-

I am having the same problem except mine smooths out at 3500 rpm. Dealer said everything was fine. But my redline is 6700 rpm. "Every Cobalt does that" I have tried Zex plugs, Ngk Stock and Ngk uridium. gaped everywhere from .030 to .044 and it still runs like ****!!! Dealer wont check the tune!

I also have stock exhaust with Stage II and a K&N Typhoon. Cleaned MAF Sensor and Air Filter AGAIN and it will run strong for about 5 days and then it is back to the stumbling ****!!!! WTF? ******* Dealers anyway, should have known when they asked
"Stage II whats that" not to go there.

Take it to another dealer? If dealer installed, stages are warranty backed..

my stage 2 is dealer installed, but i moved, and theres only one dealer in my town...... i'm soon just gonna trade the balt in on a 08 stang gt...... i do have the 7000RPM redline though

I was having the same problem. I switched to a different gas station with better quality fuel which helped out a lot. I also replaced my cat with a high-flo, because I believe it might have been getting clogged. That again helped a little....but then I changed my plugs because they were super fouled from the rich tune, and my car runs great now.

I asked about this as well and got no posts. I am having a similar problem with mine too. Keep in mind is still stock. And it feels really weak for some reason. When I hit it from 1st gear it hardly spins the tires and makes a little squeak in 2nd. Also at times in first it feel I guess a lot like boost lag cause I'll get on it and the rpms climb for a second and then the power kicks in...I don't know if this is similar to you problems. Good thing for me I know a tech at a dealership so I'm gonna have it looked at when I get my intake installed. Also I have a bouncy idle...would that be part of the cause, maybe the transmission(metal shavings caught up in the gearing). Any ideas?? Thanks

Do you by chance have an oiled filter ? I.E K and N or Injen ? If so the oil is blowing on your maf and your car is reading your air flow wrong and pumping more fuel to compensate

Soon it will blow your MAF

i've seen a few peeps with those wheels.. how did you get them? an option?

as far as the problem.. it sounds like there is some obstruction.. a clogged air filter, or cat converter maybe. but both would throw a cel. check the air filter anyway.. its easier to check than the cat.

that sounds about right. thats the way i was going.. but i never had an oiled filter (i got AEM).. so i dont know the specifics of this problem.

Have you tried pulling the battery then reconnecting it? Reset the ECU... see what happens.

hmm maybe i will check my filter, it does have 25 thousand km on it. maybe just clean it off, i had a cat go awile back. i think my 2nd one is goin again.... i'm just waiting for tag to get its **** together and get me my exhaust (been waiting 3 months, visa is fighting them now) about the wheels, they are stock gunmetal ones for 07. i have the rial nogaros on the way!

whats the part number for the aem dry flow?

Bro it is not the filter it is the oil on your MAF from the filter. You have to try to clean that MAF off before it blows. Then dry your filter out or buy an AEM filter. I learned the hard way

I cleaned my MAF Sensor and after 5 days the same ****. I dont believe my filfer is over oiled, I dont know. WTF

how long have you had stage 2? Do a search on clogged cats...it has happened to alot of people due to the richness of stage 2. My plugs also fouled after stage 2 was on for only 3k miles. You might want to check them again.

You are putting in premium fuel, right? Maybe try a different gas station, as well as some lucas injector cleaner. Lucas has done wonders for my balt and my talon.

It sounds alot like my car before I changed the fuel filter (around 30k miles). When I popped it loose I found all kind of chunks in the drained fuel. Made a night and day difference in drivability, smoothed out the accelleration. I only use 93 octane, but maybe I bought from 7-11 (Citgo) too many times.

changed the fuel filter, changed the plugs and regapped twice, cleaned the maf(been running a dry flow for a while now though)...went to zzp highflow after my stocker cracked. done nothing to help... maf even has good readings with constant change. chevy ftl..

just another "can not duplicate" from the chevy dealer...i think they can't duplicate more then they can fix. pathetic

Could this same problem be occurring with a Stock SS? I only use Mobile 1 93 octane, have gotten serviced at or before 5000 miles since the purchase of my car last year(brand new) And now it runs strange. It seems like my car is slower than when I first got it. Or maybe it's me being used to the acceleration. But if I am at a stop in hit it from first gear(without revving to higher rpms first) it hardly makes the tires spin if at all. And I get a tiny little chirp from 2nd gear. It did not do that when I bought it. I feel like I have a loss of power. And it sometimes even hesitates in first gear, not wanting to go when I hit the gas. Very odd. (I'll post this as a post to not hog the topic from The other guy)
