Can anybody fill me in on any snags i might run into while instaling this intake, and the best way to install? I currently have a k&n typhoon intake with holes from the pcm rubbing it. Please help the intake will be here in the morning.

 

Depends on how you want to install it! You could go take out the headlight and the front bumper!

 

taking the front bumper off seems excessive haha

 

I took my bumper off.. didn't touch the headlight.... I remember somewhere I had to drill a hole to mount something, I don't even remember, but I didn't do that..... My intake is just hanging on by the coupler.. not safe, but whatever, it has worked this far.. Other then that, it's pretty straight forward..

 

Its such a tight fit i doubt it will matter if i ue that bolt. But my k&n one has a bolt holding i down. Hopefully its the same.

 

I took off my Headlight, Headlight Bracket, and under front fender plastic wheel wall off and put in my ZZP CAI from under to the top. It's PITA! And It's tight fit. If I were you, I would put on coupler on throttle body first cause by the time ZZP CAI come up then mate to coupler. You will have VERY little room to wiggle it around to get that ZZP CAI into that coupler. Then drill a hole under Headlight Bracket. It will show you where in intruction sheet. Goodluck!

 

Oh, And that if you get ZZP CAI with K&N Air Filter don't get their K&N Air Filter cause it don't fit at all. It's too big. Get K&N Universal 3 inches Air Intake. You can get it off at Autozone, and Advance Auto. It's tricky at first cause it kept slipping off cause preoil on the filter. You have to get that preoil off only on the top of the K&N air filter coupler that attach to. Get that preoil off with rag to dry. Make sure they are dry then put it on, it's pretty hard to get it on but they will hold.

 

ZZP says to remove bumper in their directions

 

Yeah, I know. But I didn't, I go under the car to the top. Got it done half an hour with somebody from the top hold ZZP CAI from the top then I get up from the top and I hold in between where headlight are and the top where the hole that ZZP CAI come in. I got it wiggle way through and got it. Didn't took the bumper off.

Just 1 hole to hold the CAI bracket. I put mine on without taking the bumper off also. It was stupid tight fit though.

 

Just take your headlight out and the bracket...I installed mine just fine that way...minimal tools too

 

i have the same intake and i love it. it was a little bit trickey to get the pipe and the coupler to sit right but all i did was take the headlight out and the headlight bracket. there is no need to remove the bumber. just remember to go slow and take your time. i had no instructions with mine and my filter fits nice and snug from zzp. it mounts facing the fog light more too so the water doesn't realy get to it. allround a great intake to buy. good luck with the install

It is a tight fit but wasn't too bad to install. I just put mine on 2 weeks ago. Just take out the headlight to drill your hole for the bracket (the headlight is easy as hell to get out). The K&N filter that came with mine fit perfectly (Just remember to wipe off any excess oil off the filter).

Have had no CEL's or issues since installed.

 

HUM? That's strange your fit perfect while mine don't. Oh Well, At least I got it hook up.

 

Got mine put on and its a tiiiiight fit. I dont seemuch of a change besides my powerband being smoother. It was. Tricky bitch but i didnt use the support barket bc it was such a snug fit.

If I found this before your install I would of suggested a rag around the whole. Or masking tape to cover the pipe from scraches. Mine got scrached to s€#Ľ*. I didn't get a instruction sheet with mine. Would of been nice if I did. I got a bump in gas mileage with mine. And the awsome whine.

 

I didn't have to drill anything for mine.

The K&N filter that came with mine fit no problem.

 

That's how I did mine... Minus the drilling....
I didnt get instructions with mine though...
I did not have to take the bumper off either

Also don't expect any performance improvments for the ZZP over the K&N

I have the ZZP now, and had the K&N and they both dynoed the same for me anyway

Don't forget to get the K&N Dry charger E-4710DK

 

Luckily mine came with instructions but i didnt drill the hole. I also got lucky i didnt scratch mine up during install. Ill upload pics later

 

I had my front bumper off before the install so I kept it off during. Also, take the headlight, bracket, and inner fender well off and it'll make it so much easier. Also I never drilled a hole to hold the intake up either. GL

 

Yeah you don't have to drill the hole for the bracket because its pretty tight. I just did it while I had headlight off and was in that compartment because I Made a little shield out of sheet metal to stop the water from messing up my MAF (had problems when it rains hard)...

As for the fit yeah it was tight as hell.
