i recommend upgrading to your brake pads to the ACdelco ceramics. i did this as i needed new brakes anyways but my rotors were always warping and getting really bad vibrations. after putting the new pads in and turning my rotors i tried a few hard stops and the rotors still look like they came off the lathe. the only thing i can say bad about them is when they are cold they squeel for a few stops until they warm up.

the dealer will turn the rotors for free. and i can't remember how much the pads were as i did a side job with one of my techs in my shop and he paid for the pads and turned all my rotors for me. and with the stock pads and rotors yes they will keep warping until something is done or you don't brake hard ever again.

where is your grinding coming from. check your rear rotors on the inside and see if there is bad scoring. for some fucked up reason the TC's rear brakes wear extremely quickly and cause metal on metal and they put out a bulletin not to warranty it when it clearly should be

I got 15000kms on my car and it been in 3 time to get the rotors turned and I need to take it back soon because the are starting to warp again......the dealer should turn them for free as long as ur car is still under a gm warranty. The first time I took my rotors to get turned they tried blaming me, the second time they tried telling me it was the way i drove and all that bs ,and the third time i got the service manager to get in my car and drive it down the highway, after that there were no problems getting them turned.

Regarding this - I had my car in to get a minor fix on Wednesday, and they told me there was a recall to replace the front rotors for pulsating in the pedal. Not a TSB, but an actual recall, just released. Problem is, they didn't have any rotors in stock. I personally have not had any issues at all with the brakes, and I just rolled over 11k, but this may help some of you out there.

so i went to get them turned at the dealer next to my house, i didnt buy it there. called where i bought it and asked about the brakes and they said there isnt a recall but i should bring it down for no matter what cause its where i bought it and mabey ill have better luck. any ways i stopped the service next to my house (not warrenty) and brought it to where i bought it and they are gonna buy new rotors for the rear and machine the fronts and i have to buy the pads. i bought ebc red stuff front pads and hawk hps rear pads. sooo happy

I always wondered that factors made these brakes warp. I have an 07 SS 2.4 and I have 26,000 miles on it and not one problem with the brakes. I drive my car pretty hard and the back rotors are smooth as a cd and the fronts only have light grooving and have zero warpage or problems. The pads are in good shape also. My driving habits are in town driving to appointments during the day.

I did make sure to break it in properly when I got it so maybe that helped. Are you guys just driving your cars extra hard or is this some random chance thing also?

My rotors just started pulsing. I am not a hard driver, lots of rain here.. doubt that matters. But now when i hit the breaks the whole pedal bounces and its a major pulse.

I tested the car by doing about 20 and using ebrake.. it stopped perfect, no pulsing or anything. My rotors are toast in the front. I have about 24k miles, its an 07SS

just started having this problem bad. supposedly rear rotors for the TC are on national backorder. at least that's what i heard from the dealer. i really wish their were some aftermarket rear rotors cause this GM part crap is . . well. . crap.

oh and my rear pads are gone and grinding my rear rotors. only had the car for a year. front brakes and rotors are perfect. obviously there's a problem somewhere with the car and not with our driving.

hey guys, i have the 2008 chevy cobalt ss turbocharged with 14k, brakes and rotors bad already, they cut front and rear rotor, then replace rear rotor and pads, noise still there, very bad service in north carolina dealers. Try to upgrade to ebc rotor and pads, doesnt work, no same size and style, try to find right parts... no easy, the web site ebc is wrong...

Update oct 02 2009, i just get back my car from the dealer after a month, they replace rear caliper, rear pads and rear rotor, and guess what still doesnt work, rear brake make loud noise, squeeling, and doesnt work like suppost. When they give me my car inmediatly i start driving was a noise, well i tell the dealer because i was there, so they said give 2 week to new brakes and rotor and pad get sit, ok i said, but i can go fast and stop hard because my front brakes take all the weight and power, rear still doesnt work like suppost. Email diferent peopple that sell part, aftermarket but nobody until now have something that work for 2008 cobaltt ss turbocharged 2.0. If somebody know something please let me know. ASAP. my email is drtop01@hotmail.com or just call me because i have for a year my car and i really dont enjoyed like i wan... 919 6100626.

Took mine in for my rears once, he said it was just rust from sitting on the lot so long and to bring it in if it got worse. Brought it in when it was getting worse, and he said they were out of the warranty range. Sneaky little bastards.

i had problems... its not a recall at all...

i had to talk to the service manager... they told me they had to wait for a GM rep to come by and check the car to see if it was cool for them to replace it.

the GM rep agreed to give me parts for free but it wasnt a warranty coverage, they said it was "good will" gesture of them to give me the rotors and pads...
