Ordered a new shift boot to replace my worn out and torn factory boot and I was very impressed with quality of this boot. You guys are great

Forgive the not so clean interior. I don't wipe things down near as often as I should.

How difficult was it to replace your shift boot? I just got a new one for my 09 SS and I keep reading that people are snapping the plastic ring that is connected.

old thread I know, but this shift boot u have looks like carbon fiber vinyl, which is thin and should be easy like stock. I got a leather one and its such a pain in the ass to fit right. I had to modify the trim the plastic ring clips into. the little trim extentions where the front ring clips over had to be removed because the leather is to thick to let the ring clip onto those, now it just clips onto the flat trim part. also when u staple the leather on, it has to be staples as far to the bottom of the ring as possible, or it will not go down all the way and look stupid. I also used a rotary tool to sand the sides of the trim down so the leather has more room, I used a spare trim to try this. the one in my car is not sanded as much so ill see if that still works. if you don't want a headache, buy vinyl boot.

yup still worked, I don't think sanding the trim down is necessary, just the removal of the tabs on trim front, and the stapling at bottom of ring, that should be a good fit. for aftermarket shifters, there is nothing on the boot to put a zip tie through to secure it to shifter like is instructed for stock boot when u but say an ottp shifter. I just gut slits in the leather on the underside and put a ziptie through like that, worked well, redline, please modify ur design to add this feature so we don't have to cut the leather.
