clar bar

Ok so i got a clay bar and sorta did part of my car with it but i really need some tips for next time. I half fucked up and half didn't so I'm not sure what to think so far.

Am i supposed to use the clay bar with the car dry or wet?
Isn't there some chemical I'm supposed to spray on the area prior to the bar?
And when do u usually turn it?

im sure these might be answered somewhere and im an ass for not reading but i wasnt sure

The car should be dry and clean. The kit should have also came with a spray that you spray on the area to be clayed to use as a lubricant. You then move the clay over the sprayed area until its smooth. Do one area at a time, then once done, turn the bar. Hope that helps

Usually most clay bars com with some of car detailer that you spray before you run the clay bar over and it helps lubricate the clay. As for turning it, I guess it all depends on how bad the dirt/overspray/sap, whatever was on your car was. Usually the clay bar is darker (dirtier) and you just flip it over or knead it until you get a clean side.

This whole thing can be scary (I bought a kit and was too afraid to use it for 6 months) but it's not that bad once you get it figured out.

The car should be dry, but recently washed.

Use a quick detailer with the clay bar. Most kits should come with some, but if not Mothers and Meguiars both make good ones. This is needed so the clay doesn't just stick to the car.

Turn the clay every few minutes, or as it gets dirty. Keep looking at the clay, and once it looks dirty either just use a different part or kneed it up to get fresh clay.

Maguires spray detailer is perfect for claybar. just spray on dry car and clay bar over it. surface should be lubricated at all times
