How often do you wax?
Kinda curious to how often you wax. I've always done it in the beginning of summer, and end of fall. But then I read people do it every 2 weeks! Seems overkill to me. So just wondering what everyone does, and if I should be doing it more often.

I have a black car; arguably the worst to maintain the finish on.
I use a quality paste wax 2/3 times a year - after a major toothbrush/soft scrub brush/microfiber towel wash. However, Eagle One (I think) makes a "wax as you dry" spray-on that is phenomenal as an inbetween-good wax detailing wax spray. I wash the car, rinse it good, then spritz this stuff on sparingly as I towel off the car. It leaves no swirl (unless I'm stupid enough to do it in the direct sun), no haze, no white stuff, and it leaves a phenomenal and smooth finish behind. I use it every other time I wash the car because its so easy to do. I also use the supposedly "wash/wax" combo car wash liquid, but it really does nothing as far as leaving any type of finish behind - that is why I got the spray after reading about it in a restorer's mag. |

Depends on what is being waxed

Every two weeks. Clay bar with purple stick from carbrite, then Compound with white wool pad, then wax* with yellow wool pad, then more wax* with Orange pad and random orbit, then nano wax with black pad and random orbit. Spray wax for door amd trunk jams.

Machine buff/wax at start of warmer weather (May, June) Hand wax montly, machine wax before the snow flies. Makes for easy machine washes throughout winter months.
