My french Canadian 09 SS
Bonjour, ->
After months and months of research on this car last summer I went up to Canada in search for one of these babies. Turns out the Canadian dollar to US dollar is a lot cheaper so a $12,000 (Canadian) car up there with 70k kilometers on it = about $9,000 (US) with 42k miles. A lot easier said then done though. Tones of paperwork and no sense of direction up there, the boarder and then surprisingly the hardest part was the DMV's in the US scared to file the paperwork wrong. Took me 3 DMV's to finally get the title. But if now at the end of this summer if I wanted to resell it for US price with a clean US title I could. But I most likely wont.
(If you ever do want to do what I did after getting the car go to the closest DMV near the boarder preferably in the same day and make sure you have original signatures or else your screwed and i highly recommend buying from a dealership up there)
Went up to look at an 09 black sedan with even less miles, stock and cheaper (rarer too). This one was going to be the backup just in case. So of course the sedan had sold the day before. So this one was about an hour away. Had the cash on hand so went over to the other dealer and got this one. It was going to be my daily driver until I saw it and realized I couldn't drive it in the salt without wanting to throw myself off a bridge.
The good stuff
Specs:
- 2009 SS 70k kilometers (42k miles)
- Never seen a winter and plan to keep it that way.
- Stage 1 GM tune (around 24 psi)
Hasn't been dynoed but after seeing other posts and charts for the GM tune I'd say 275 - 280 whp and 310 - 320 torque. I plan on getting it tuned again but after I get an intake and exhaust.
- 3" downpipe (with stock one given back to me if I want to change it)
- Stock intake and exhaust
- aftermarket 6 puck clutch (might change in the future it seems a little hard core for this car. especially from 1st to 2nd)
- aftermarket motor mounts
- peoples reactions are priceless
Cons:
- Everything is in french
- Runs a little richer than I would like
More pictures to come of interior and more. I'm still new to the site so just let me know of any questions or comments. Let me know what you think. Thanks and keep the cobalt dream alive.
