Question Quick Question

My 09 only has 650 Miles on it so far, and I have washed it every couple days.

I haven't done anything as far as exterior detailing goes, besides washing.

I got the 4 oz bottles of TurboWax's Paint Cleaner, Final Polish, and then Synthetic Polymer Wax/Sealant.

My question to you all is the following;

My car, being so new, doesn't have ANY swirl marks or blemishes yet.

How do I go about waxing this?

let me restate.... Do I REALLY need to use a paint cleaner...and then a polish, before applying TurboWax's "Wax/Sealant"?

Any thoughts?

I really want my baby to have some protection on the road... but I don't want to skip any prep work. But also, I don't want to do any work that is not needed ( Wish I had electric orbital buffer!_

P.S.- Stay tuned to this sub-forum for my write up on TurboWax's Car Shampoo and Tire Dressing, I will be typing it out after work tomorrow. Here is a hint- TurboWax Rox. I will elaborate tomorrow

the paint cleaner ill clean all the impurities off the paint. especially rail dust.rail dust is iron fibres kicked up from being in transit on trians.iron wheels in train grinding agianst iron rails send iron fileings allover new cars on trains on the way to dealerships. use the cleaner to get everything off and follow the steps on the bottles.if your going to spenad all that time waxing and polishing your car then dont skimp out on the small details.theresults will pay off more in the long run when you do all steps.
good luck

very true... a good detail job starts with a great hand wash.. spend atleast 45 minutes washing your car and drying it. water spots will f up all your hard work.. specialy when it comes to waxing.. take your time...dont get bored and rush.. i do detailing on the side.. just take your time.. dont skip steps.. and make sure you wax on.. wax off lol miles dont mean much when it comes to the paint how long have you owned your car for.. ? you should be fine waxing it now.. but befor winter kicks into gear i would o the polish then wax..

alright fiscal....you dont need to use the polish right now

but i would use the paint cleaner as they have said it removes oils and other impurites....

example:
feel your car after you wash.
then use the paint cleaner.
then feel.
it will feel smoother.
now wax and it will feel perfect.

if you want to just test it on your spoiler or something and if you think it should be done to the rest do it, and if you dont then dont do it.

Thank you for being the first person to actually address my situation here..much luv bro.

I am asking for a Random Orbital Buffer ( electrical) for Christmas!

Any suggestions as far as models/makes?

Looking to keep it under 200$

I just washed my car the other day and it looks polished and ****.

like I said, I only have 650 miles on the car. There are no swirl marks or anything yet.

I had to ask on here however, because I was under the impression that polish gives you the shine, while sealant/wax just locks it in.

So laserblue...you sure I wouldn't need a polish.

Once again.. I am using TurboWax line.

Cleaner+ their wax ( its actually a synthetic tri-polymer sealant) will give me the shine?

Hell.. it shines great now with just a TurboWax Shampoo!

I am mainly just concerned with Protection.. more so then shine.

Also.. when doing this by hand... is a soft-foam applicator the best to use to actually apply cleaner/wax?

Its what I have been using... then cotton/microfiber applicators to remove/final buff dry.

i personally would not use a polish without a buffer...as you cant not create the condidtions necessary for the polish to work at it optimum point. many many times you will create fine swirls...which are not appealing

but i use a Porter Cable 7424

autogeek has a good starter kit for around 250....

i know it seems like a lot but you also get abunch of pads better backplate and some other goodies

now polish gives you that "shine" by leveling the paint...it removes the light swirls to make it look perfectly smooth...so once again if you have no swirls then no need to polish.

and yes if doing by hand then the soft foam applicator is the best. it is what the pads for a DA polisher are made of.

also microfiber is the best to remove it with...i dont know what your microfiber situation is but at sams they have some that you get 24 for $10....and they are very good.

also you are correct....good wax/sealant does zero correction it only protect your work...

but for now try using the cleaner on spoiler/trunk...then judge based on your judgement if you think it is needed for the rest of the car....

also when doing the wax follow the lines of the body....that way if you do just so happen to "scratch"(as in super fin scratch) you will only see it from a certain angle and not all angles....

Awesome dude!

Thanks

We have a Sams Club we shop at regularly!

24 Applicators for 10$ what a deal IMO!

What is the low end-high end of pricing when it comes to electrical orbitals?

is 250$ entry level?
