While washing my car the other day I noticed that all along my sideskirts are little nics, they look like chips or scuffs, but are smooth to the touch.. I cant get these dam things out, I know its from road grins and pebbles, but theres no actual chips, just scuff looking marks... anyone know what im talking about or how to get this out if possible? Thanks!

ok, if they are not chips or pits, if they are just in fact scratched clear coat, you can polish it out by using a cutting polish. Because they are small, I would recomend starting with ScratchX (very very very mild cut with filler). you can get it from target etc, if that doesnt work, try SwirlX, its got slightly more cut to it. If neither of those work, you can get it buffed out, which will use a professional grade polish compount like P085rd to take microns off the clear coat, leveling it out (for use with DA polisher only). Then follow up with a finishing polish and it should all be gone and ready for sealant/wax. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

 

You should see mine, they're sandblasted to hell. They're so bad I'll probably get them repainted.

 

yeah if the paint or clearcloat is actually GONE, ...you can't bring that back unless its repainted.

 

So some rubbing compound? Im never good with Scratchx or those products.

you dont want to use rubbing compound as an amateur. Can't stress that enough. Try the meguiars products, if you arent good with those, then hire someone that knows what their doing. You can do a LOT more damage than good with rubbing compound. In fact, I don't know of ANYONE that uses straight rubbing compound on something like this, typically, polish, polish, polish. ALWAYS start with LEAST aggressive, then move to more progressive. You CAN"T replace clearcoat that is gone, so start small then work your way down till your satisfied.
