what am i doing wrong

I waxed my car twice with Turtle Wax Hard Shell and each time the wax doest come completely off it leaves spekcles of wax everywhere on my black car. I did it in the shade and left the wax sit for a good 20mins. Is it the wax im using? What is a good wax?

i agree with lambo, i've always used eagle one, and meguires liquid wax. eagle one makes a spray on, dry off wax, which works really well for a quick detail.

i use meguiar's gold class paste wax. works great for me. i read somewhere that it's better to use paste wax over liquid wax. never tried liquid though so i wouldn't be able to tell you.

from using both paste and liquid wax, paste does a better job of filling/polishing out scuff marks and swirls, where-as the liquid wax just makes the car shiny and slippery to the touch without really polishing the car. IMO.

i have used coutless waxes and i still like Zymol the best! it has a really good life (i used it b4 the winter.. in the middle of the winter and then come spring its still just as smooth) i would highly recomend it. it does leave soem dust but thats what the california car duster is for haha or a drive down the street.. its pretty easy to use also.. i personally love it!

Like I say in all topics related to waxing now, try TurboWax....they designed it in Florida in the heat so it works awesome, I used the Hard Shell before and was very unhappy with it compared to TurboWax products.

How warm was it when you waxed your car? If I was you I would have waxed the car on a day like today or yesterday other wise it has been to cold to do that IMO.

everybody seems to have different oppinions on using wax.. however being a detailer i used a **** load of different waxes and just found the best one ive got so far. It's 3M peformance wax. i figured 3M has good compound and polish (we use it in the body shop) and figured i'd try the wax... Its the only wax i used that doesn't wash off. I usually wax my car everytime i wash it and now i no longer need to.

And no matter how good the wax is, it always says that on the directions.

x2

this guy is like me. Tried em all but none really work well short of 3M. I would rate products differently though.

3M scratch remover is #1 (cant be beaten)
3M cleaner wax is #2 (I prefer mother's unless you have small scratches then use 3M)
3M Polish is #2 (I prefer Black Magic polish for ultimate shine) however Black Magic leaves a residue that u have to buff a bit to get off but is well worth it when your done.

I have a black car

I bought 2 bottles of scratch x last year.

1st time i threw it away because i didnt notice any difference.

2nd time because everyone on this forum said it worked.....still threw it away.

It doesnt work for me on my black car.
