Losing your heated seats.

I want to take my LT seats out and put SS seats in but i want to keep the Heated seat mechanism and transfer it into the SS seat. leather be taken off the seats and transfered or will it damage the seat.

unless your car is currently wires for heated seats, you cant do it. otherwise, just take the four bolts out that hold the seat to the floorboard, after disconnecting the applicable wires, and put the new ones in.

ooooooh, now I think I get the question. Basically you guys want heated seats in your SS models, right?

If so, make sure the wiring is there in your SS, which I am sure it is, and then just swap the seats.

or am I missing something again?

the SS seat has a Plug on the driver seat for the air bag and seat belt.. passenger seat has no plugs.

The LT seats both driver and passenger have a plug for seatbelt/passenger/air bag sensors. Plus a Heated seat connection.

what i am asking is can you switch the seats but keep the guts of the LT seats (plug for seatbelt/passenger/air bag sensors. Plus a Heated seat connection) in my LT but put the shell of the SS seat ( Red on Black leather) over it. Put the Black Leather shell from my LT in my friends SS..

sure, thats what upholstery shops do all the time. The cloth and leather are just covers over the foam.

I'm sure it can be done. But you'll have to cut out some of the foam. It'll be a bit of work for sure. If your lookgin for a weekend project this probably isn't it. You live in NY, ehh you dont' need those seats. Just suck it up flyboi. Yer a man right? Hell if its' that bad jsut wear some sweats under your suit. Believe me man if you get too hot just open a window and tell everyone that they're a buncha sissies. :lol

Okay, first of all, I'm moving the thread to general. How-to section is a tutorial area, not a question asking area.

Second, this is web forum, you need to be patient. Bumping it every hour isn't going to get you more of a response then bumping it every day.

And lastly, I'll happily answer your question.

No, you can not do what you are hoping to do. I have a 2005 LS 1SB with the heated leather seats as well. It was the only option package in the 2005 model year that allowed you to get the heated seats. The SS/SC could not get it. I think they still can't get it.

The heating element is built right into the seat. You can not remove the element from your leather seats and put them into an SS seat without taking apart the upholstry of BOTH seats. It's possible, but what a horrible pain in the ass.

They do make aftermarket seat heaters, but they still need to be installed into the seat duing the upholstry process. Plus, they use their own control circuitry, so you probably wouldn't be able to use the factory controls anymore.

My suggestion to you is this. If you really want the colored inserts that the SS has, just have your LT seats re-upholstered. Shops can very easily take apart the leather of your seat and put inserts in where you want them. They can even do some embriodery if you wish.

Of course. Re-upholstering your seat won't change the frame, foam or electronics. It's will just be a different fabric/leather. You should completely retain all functionality.

I thought of some more stuff too. 2005 model year did not have the seat sensors for the airbags. They just all deploy whether or not somebody is sitting there. That didn't come around until 2006. I don't know if the 2006 SS models had air bag sensors. I can tell you that if you are getting the "Air Bag Off" light, then sure enough, the poor sucker sitting in your passenger seat is going through the windshield.

Also, I had an idea. You could retain the seat cushion section of your LT seat, which has all the electrical systems in it, and just swap out the backrest sections of the SS seats. It would work, but there would two items of note. First, there is a heater section in the lumbar area of the back which you would lose. Also, the back would have the colored insert while the seat would not.

I would just have your LT seats redone by a shop to the style you want. You said you already have the SS seats installed, so go take your LT seats to a shop and get them done up nice and custom.

Can't you just get the leather ss seat covers and have them put on your lt seats?

I can't believe I read the entire thread...

My question is "Why didn't you ask this before swapping seats?"
