I posted a compeltly different thread about how i already swapped the seats, and needed to find out how to replace the air bag sensor and it got like 50 views and not really any help.. so i posted it this way.. and got my answers... So the point is If you want answers.. make it be about a way to Mod, instead of a safty issue.

I have an 06 SS with the cloth seats(thats all the dealer could find me). I have the sensor for the passenger airbag. I just think its a matter of the SS seats not have the sensor. Sorry bout your luck bro. I know your concern is safety, but thats what you lost, unless you feel like doing a lot of work (or having someone do it for you). Get that turbo in, and it'll make you all happy again. =) Later.

You wont be able to retrofit the Passenger Pressence System (PPS) into the Recaros and still comply with FMVSS208. (Federal Safety Standards) It's the primary reason why the Recaro option is being dropped for 2007.
It's a wee bit more complicated than a switch in the seat cusion btw.The silicon gel filled bladder, pressure sensor and module are specifically designed to function PROPERLY with THAT seat and THAT seat alone.

Sure, there's all sorts of ways you can "trick" the PPS pressure sensor to ALWAYS see 65lbs or more and turn the airbag ON, (and just stuff the components under the seat) but it's also against federal regulations to modify these safety systems so it will be extremely difficult to get explicit directions on how to do it without LEGAL ramifications. I suggest you put the other seats BACK and trade your car in for one that has the seats you want

I think you missed his point. Yes, you can do that, but it would be illegal. It sounds like you messed up. It sounds like you traded your seats with somebody before considering this issue, and now you are stuck. Get your seats back if you can, and just have them re-upholstered.

Do whatever you want! (it's a free country)
But if someone gets hurt (or worse) in your car YOU still can be found negligent (even years after you sell it) and made liable for damages due to modifying, altering or otherwise rendering inoperable any safety system on a motor vehicle, or authorizing someone else to do so.

FYI the PPS system also DISABLES the airbag when an individual smaller than a 5th percentile female OR LATCH compliant child safety seat is installed in the fron passenger seating position. This is because the airbag can HARM these people. The warning lamps for the PPS system must also remain fully functional. The modifications you are contemplating will not function properly in these respects.

What was your VIN again??

I contacted my Chevy Dealer, and asked about the sensor and if it can be purchased to place in aftermarket seats. And i was told "You can simply remove the sensor, and re insert it into your new seat."

So looks like i just need to get the sensor out of the old seat and im good to go

LOL that's funny. I dont know who you talked to at the dealer but they obviously know NOTHING about the Passseneger Presence System (PPS)
Like I said before YOU can do whatever you want - but modifying that seat or your aibrag system goes against federal regualtions.

You'd be better off (from strictly a legal perspective) just swapping the seats and just leaving the airbag non-functional in that seating position IMO.

heated seats

well i dont know if this helps at all but...

i have a 2005 ss/sc that i installed heated seats in.

i used an aftermarket heated seat kit. the install was a headache but caused absolutely no problems.

if you have any specific questions i might be able to help.
but like i said i have a ss/sc that has an aftermarket kit so im dont know much about your non ss setup.

check my pics if you want a look at my setup.

Why is it "illegal" to put the sensor in another seat if it does the same thing.
